TIMOTHY CHARLES SNOW .the former Miss Judy Ann Houston Carter - Huff man Vows Exchanged Miss Rebecca Jane Carter and Larry Otis Huffman were married at 7 p.m. Friday at Peek's Chapel Baptist Church The Rev Arthur Hensley conducted the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs. James C. Carter of Mars Hill Huffman is the son of Mrs Hattie Friday of Marshall and the late Carl Huffman. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Mrs. Brenda Moore of Spring Creek was matron of honor Doug Huffman of Marshall served as his brother's best man. Ushers were Doug Phillips and Bruce Shook, both of Mars Hill. A reception followed The bride is attending Asheville-Buncombe Technical Institute. The bridegroom is employed by Electric Supply Company in Asheville. Miss Judy Ann Houston Weds Timothy Snow Miss Judy Ann Houston and Timothy Charles Snow were united in marriage Saturday afternoon at 3 The double ring ceremony was performed in Blue's Grove Baptist Church, Dobson, with the Rev Orville Bledsoe, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, and the Rev Roy Estes, pastor of Blue's Grove, officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs D C Houston Jr of Dobson She is the grand daughter of Mrs Geneva Ramsey of Marshall and Mr and Mrs Dallas Houston Sr., formerly of Marshall She graduated from Surry Central High School and Surry Com munity College and is presently a senior at Mars Hill College. majoring in elementary education Snow's ??- 1 is parents are mr anu mis Mack L Snow of Route 3, Dobson A graduate of Surry Central High School, he is employed by the Surry County Board of Education. The church altar was decorated with white burning tapers in an arched candelabra in tertwined with greenery, flanked by baskets of white gladioli, mums and snap dragons A program of wed ding music was presented by Mrs. Gray Nichols, organist, and Miss Cindy Harris, Miss Donna Nichols and Wade Nichols, soloists. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a gown of white silk organza designed with a low Queen Anne neckline and cap sleeves The Empire bodice had an overlay of Venice lace. Her A-line skirt that extended into a chapel train was enhanced with rows of lace. A Juliet cap, covered in mat ching Venice lace, held her full length veil of silk illusion overlaid wun a iingerup veil encircled with lace. She carried a bouquet of pink and white sweetheart roses, white stephanotis, babies' breath and ivy tied with white streamers. Miss Teri Aldridge of Burlington was maid of honor. Her floor-length gown of light blue knit was fashioned in sundress styling with a scooped neckline and A-line skirt and was complemented with a floral print cape of sheer dacron which featured a high neckline. She wore a matching straw hat and carried a basket of white daisies, blue pom poms. and white babies' breath tied with blue streamers. Mrs. Dale Davis of Dobson was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Debbie Reed of Asheville, cousin of the bride; Miss Robin Taylor of Hickory; and Miss Janet Hodges and Miss Tina McCall of Dobson. They wore gowns identical in color and design to the maid of honor's and carried baskets of the same flowers Junior bridesmaid was Miss Michele Pinti of Carthage, Miss, cousin of the bride She wore a floor-length dress of blue dotted swiss in princess styling with capelet. She wore a headpiece of blue and white flowers and carried a small basket of flowers identical to the honor attendants' Miss Candace Pinti of Carthage. Miss , cousin of the bride, was flower girl She wore a floor-length dress and a bonnet made of white eyelet featuring a blue rosebud design The dress was highlighted with an Empire waist and puff sleeves She carried a basket of pink rose petals Engagement Mr. and Mrs J. Hughie Ray of Mars Hill announce the engagement of their daughter, Elaine Ray, to David Michael Thomas, son of Mr and Mrs Ernest Thomas, also of Mars Hill The bride-elect graduated in 1974 with a M A degree in guidance and counseling from Appalachian State University. She is employed as a counselor at Mountain Heritage High School in Yancey County. The future bridegroom received a B S degree in physical education from Mars Hill College and a master's degree in elementary education from East Ten nessee State University. He is employed by Buncombe County Schools. An early summer wedding is planned Enjoy Trip Mr and Mrs Frederick Franklin of Knoxville, Tenn., and Mr. and Mrs Ernest Nial Coates of Weaverville recently spent five days in Washington, D. C., and Virginia They took a "Silver Star Tour" of Washington, D C., which included stops at the United States Capitol, the White House, Smithsonian Institution. Bureau of Engraving & Printing, Lincoln Memorial. Marine Corps War Memorial, John F Kennedy Center and Arlington National Cemetery In Virginia they spent some time at Luray Caverns, Mount Vernon, the Bull Run Bat tlefield Park and Natural Bridge At Natural Bridge they spent the night and saw the pageant "Creation." Mr. and Mrs. Franklin and Mr. and Mrs. Coats are former residents of Madison County. Beta Omega Represented At Convention The Beta Omega Sorority was represented at the Epsilon Sigma Alpha State Convention in Charlotte May 13-15. The convention marked the 25th anniversary of Epsilon Sigma Alpha in North Carolina Beta Omega received two awards on state levels. The sorority received a third degree award for travel and the socials held during the vear. Mrs. Jerry Plemmons was appointed to the State Council to serve as North Carolina ESAS publicity chairman. Billie Lynn Roberts was ap pointed to serve as North Carolina ESA historian. Members and their husbands attending the con vention were Mr and Mrs Jerry Plemmons, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rice, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Wallin, Mr and Mrs Laurence Cutshall, Mr and Mrs. Garry Moore, Mrs. Pat Franklin, and Miss Billie Lynn Roberts. Snow was his son's best man Ushers were Dale Davis of Doteon, cousin of the bridegroom; Lynn Houston of Dobson, brother of the bride; Danny Poindexter of Siloam; Bennett Coe of Dobson; and Steve Snow of Dobson, brother of the bridegroom Ringbearers were Ryan Davis and Ryan Woodring, both of Dobson For her daughter s wedding, Mrs Houston chose a floor-length gown of pink chiffon fashioned with a V neckline and full skirt Her cape of pink chiffon featured an orchid screen print design and she wore a white orchid wrist corsage The bridegroom's mother was attirprl in a flnor-lenfith Sown of blue Qiana knit fashioned with an Empire bodice Her cape of blue chiffon was ac cented with seed pearls and she wore a white orchid wrist corsage , Miss Donna Snow, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Joy ' Crissman, presided at the \ guest register. Mrs Warren Mitchell was wedding director Reception Immediately following the ceremony, the bride's parents entertained with a reception in the New Hope Baptist Church fellowship hall, Dobson The table was overlaid with a white lace cloth. The center Engagement Announcement is made of the engagement of Pamela Joan Yelton to Gary Michael Riddle The bride-elect is the daughter of Mrs Jo Under wood of Mars Hill and Murray Yelton, also of Mars Hill. She is a 1975 graduate of Madison High School and is employed by Glen Raven Mills in Bur nsville. The future bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs Francis Riddle of Mars Hill. He is a 1973 graduate of Cane River High School and is employed by Burnsville Mills Inc. The wedding is planned for July 2. piece consisted of a silver :andelabra flower arrangement The five-tier wedding cake of blue and white was topped with wedding bells Punch, cheese straws, chicken >alad pastries, mints and nuts were served Assisting at the eception were Mrs. Herman Srinkman, aunt of the bride, ind Mrs Chuck Endicott, ?ousin of the bride, both of Carthage, Miss , Mrs. Donnie Hardy, aunt of the bridegroom; Mrs. MaxBnntle and Mrs. Davis Lawrence, both of Dobson. Rosebud rice bags were distributed by Sonja Ramsey of Marshall, cousin of the bride. Afterwards, the newlyweds left for a wedding trip to Virginia.
