12, of Route S, Marshall, died
Monday in an Asheville rest
home after a long illness
A native of Madison County
and a daughter of the late J.
Woodson and Mary Gardner
Anderson, Mrs. Wallin taught
in the Madison County school
system for several years She
was the widow of Dewey
Wallin who died Aug 10 and
was an adult Sunday school
teacher at White Rock
Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are three
daughters, Mrs Agnes
Metcalf of Mars Hill, Mrs
Daisy Franklin of Virginia
Beach, Va., and Mrs. Mary
Tweed of Marshall; a son, J.
D. Wallin of Mars Hill; two
sisters, Mrs Ollie Wells of
Beltsville, Md, and Miss
Daisy L. Anderson of Mars
Hill; 10 grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m.
Tuesday in Marshall
Presbyterian Church. The
Rev. George Moore and the
Rev. William Emerson of
ficiated. Burial was in Mars
Hill Cemetery

an extended illness

Camp Road, who died Sept 1,

A native of Madison County
and a son of the late Dock and
Lila Willis McKinney, he was
a resident of Henderson
County for 40 years He was a
carpenter.

Mrs. Tennia Ray Anders, 73,
of Barnardsville, died Monday
in an Asheville hospital after
an extended illness.
A native of Madison County
and a resident of Buncombe
County most of her life, she
was formerly employed by
Grove Park Inn for 19 years.
She was the widow of Cecil
Anders who died in 1971 and
was a daughter of the late
Bascombe and Sue Robinson
Ray.
Surviving are a daughter,
Mrs. Eva Turner of Tacoma,
Wash., three sons, J. B. and
Warren Anders of Mars Hill
and Bryan Anders of
Charleston, S C.; four sisters,

Lurley J. Anderson
Curley James Anderson, 77,
of Route 1, Mars Hill, died
Friday at his home after an
extended illness.
He was a lifelong resident of
Madison County and was a
retired meat cutter. He w?3
the son of the late Neal and
Frances Roland Anderson.
Surviving are the wife, Mrs.
Flora Henson Anderson; a
daughter, Mrs. Dorothy
Wallace of Washington, D.C.;
a stepdaughter, Mrs. Ella Mae
Waters of Asheville; a step
son, Raymond Bowditch of
Asheville; three sisters, Mrs

and Mrs. Thelma Young, with
whom he made his home and

He was a native of Madison

James Winfred Dill, 52, of
Route 2, Marshall, died
unexpectedly Aug. 29 at his
home.
A native and lifelong
resident of Madison County,
he was a farmer and was a
member of the Pleasant
Valley Baptist Church. He was
a son of the late George and
Maggie Dill.
Surviving are three sisters,
Mrs. Daisy Bowens of Bur
nsville, Mrs. Finnie Proffitt of
Mars Hill and Mrs. Mae
Watson of Pittsburgh, Pa; and
five brothers, Abran and Paul
Dill of Marshall, Roscoe Dill
of Frostproof, Fla., Roosevelt

of High Point.

Mrs. Jim Jarvis
Mrs. Mary George Jarvis,
87, of Route 1, Mars Hill, died
Aug. 30 at her home after an
extended illness.
She was a native and
lifelong resident of Madison
County and was the widow of
Jim Jarvis. She was a
daughter of the late Harvey
and Loretta Scott George.
Surviving are eight
daughters, Mrs. Bertha Moss,
Mrs. Jaxie Jamerson, Mrs.
Johnnie Allen and Mrs.
Katherine Ramsey of Mars
Hill, Mrs. Helen Jarvis of
Mountain Home, Mrs. Willie
Coates and Mrs. Alma Jarvis

Jesse Carmel Jarvis of Mars
Hill, with whom she made her

p.m. Thursday in Ivy Chapel
Baptist Church, of which she
was a member. The Rev.

Aug. 23 in a Lumberton
Hospital after a long illness.

Mount on Aug. 24.
Survivors are a son, Henry
Ricks of Hampton, Va.; a
daughter, Mrs. Marian Suiter
of Rocky Mount; a stepson, E.
Nat Holcombe Jr. of Lenoir;
