Buncombe Technical Institute
with an associate degree of
Applied Science in Dental
Hygiene. She is a dental
hygienist for Dr. Reese Steen
in Mars Hill.
The bridegroom graduated
from Wayne Community Col
lege in Goldsboro with an
associate degree of Applied
Science in Forest Manage
ment and graduated from
Haywood Technical Institute
with an associate degree of
Applied Science in Forest Pro
ducts. He works for N.C.
Forest Service as a Madison
County Forest Ranger.
The couple will reside in
Marshall, N.C.

Fall Quarter Begins Sept. 12
Ruby Chandley, Thomas Hunter Speak Vows
The wedding of Ruby Jean
Chandley and Thomas Lin
wood Hunter took place at 7
p.m. Aug. 10 in the home of the
bride here, with the Rev.
Ralph McDevitt conducting
the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Billy Chandley
of Marshall. Her parents gave
her in marriage.
The bridegroom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Hayburn Hunter
of Marshall.
The bride wore a formal
length gown of salmon pink
silk and carried a colonial bou
quet of salmon tea roses,
white shasta daisies and
babies' breath.
Sue Peek of Marshall,
cousin of the bride, was
matron of honor and Wendy
Sams of Marshall was
bridesmaid They wore formal
length gowns of russet silk and
carried long stem white
chrysanthemums.
Dean Ball of Mars Hill was
best man, and Barry Chandley
of Marshall, brother of the
bride, was usher.
Nancy Allen, organist, and
Debbie Ross, soloist, furnish
ed the wedding music. The
traditional wedding marches
were played. "For Bobby"
and "The Wedding Song"
were sung.
The bride's mother wore a
formal length navy blue gown.
The bridegroom's mother
wore a black and white print
dress. Both wore white carna
tion corsages
Following the wedding a
reception was held. The
bride's table was centered
with an arrangement of mixed
flowers and candles. The
bride's wedding cake was
decorated with salmon-pink
roses and topped with wedding
bells.
Walda McDevitt and Paula
McDevitt served the wedding
cake. Ernestine Evans and
Brenda Plemmons presided at
the punch bowls. They were
assisted by Latrelle Robinson
who also directed the -wed
ding. Shelly Wright kept the
bride's book.
The bride graduated from
the University of North
Carolina at Asheviile and is a
kindergarten teacher at Mar
shall Elementary School.
The bridegroom graduated
from Mars Hill High School
and spent four years in the Ar
my. He is employed at Der
inger Manufacturing.
The couple will live on
Tillery Branch in Marshall.

the United Nations as partial fi
nancing of a new nuclear-engi
neering study program.
The aid is part of a recent
agreement signed with Argen
