W?\V SAN DIEGO ? Dr. Seuss lives in La Jolla (pronounced Hoya), a suburb of San Diego. He has a beautiful house way up on a hill with a wonderful view of the Pacific Ocean. He has a swimming pool in his front yard. He also has a sunny studio. Of course, he has a closet full of lots and lots of hats. Dr. Seuss's real name is Theodore Giesel. He is 74 years old. He picked the name Dr. Seuss to use when writing children's books. He planned to use his real name to write adult books. Dr. Seuss has a warm, friendly personality. Here he is with his dog, Samantha. His most famous book is "The ] Cat in The Hat." This was so popular because it was a fun I beginner book that kids could j read for themselves. When it was J written 22 years ago, most kids' | books were dull. * His wife Audrey helps him pick| & the colors for his fun-filled pages. | "Sometimes I do an entire book ? s without drawings. Sometimes I J I do it the other way around," Dr. & Seuss told The Mini Page. One time he wrote most of a I* book on the back of a laundry list in one afternoon. But most books take much longer than that. f Meet Marion Ross of "Happy Days" Marion Ross plays Marion Cunningham (Richie's mother) on "Happy Days." When her family moved to San Diego, she went to school at San Diego State University, where she was an outstanding actress. She was acting in a play in San Diego when she was discovered by the famous actor-director Mel Ferrer. He urged her to go to Hollywood (which is not very far away). Marion Ross has been in dozens of motion pictures and more than 440 TV shows. She is divorced and lives with her children, Jim, 17, and Ellen, 14, in Tarzana, CyHllfOfniH* from The Mini Page by Betty Debnam ^ ? 197? Univiml Prw. One experiment is to see the changes in the iris of one of your eyes as the light is turned up or down. from The Mini Page by Betty Debnamj c 1979 Universal Preaw Syndicate k from The Mini Page by Betty Itebnam 1979 Universal Preaa Syndicate ?()e ffeper TBox A dateline is the line at the beginning of some stories giving the place of the event.
