Tickets are available at the door, and proceeds will help fund Lions Club projects for the blind, such as the annual Christmas party for the blind. The NEWS RECORD, Marshall , N.C., Thunday, November 15, 1979-Page 5 1 Local People Participate In R un Six persons from Madison County took part in the first North Carolina Lung Run held Nov. 3 in downtown Asheville, on a bright, chilly day. Runners from this county were Richard M. Thomason oil Marshall and Debbie Zaccarine-Davidson, Jim Anderson, Bryan Hall, Jim Davison and Brad Zabel, all of Mars Hill. The run was sponsored by American Lung Association of North Carolina and Diet Pepsi in 10 cities of the Tar Heel State, where 10 races were run simultaneously. Hie race included a two mile fun run and the Diet Pep si 10,000 meter road race. The starting gun was fired by Asheville Mayor Roy Tran tham. Assisting in traffic con trol were members of the Bun combe County Sheriff's Department of Explorer Post S8, sponsored by the sheriff's department; the USMC Jr- | ROTC unit of Asheville High School; Buncombe County REACT teams; Buncombe County Civil Preparedness and the Asheville Police Department, emergency Bun combe County Civil Preparedness units. The Black Mountain Pilot Club set up a snack stand, and Pepsi furnished cold drinks ; free. 1 '
