Weavervilie and Mr Skipper
Alexander Curtis qf Asheville
were united in marriage in a
candelight ceremony on
Saturday, Nov. 38 at 7 p.m. in
the Weavervilie Baptist
Church The Rev. Lee Roy
Denton, pastor, officiated at
the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold Mantel
of South Main Street in
Weavervilie. She is the niece
of Mr. and Mrs. James Plem
mons of Walnut. The groom is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Curtis of Waynesville.
The bride, given in mar
riage by her father, wore a
gown of white satin designed
and created by her parents.
The bodice was of appliqued
lace with seed pearls, sequins,
and bugle beads forming an
original design extending the
full length of the cathedral
train. Her long veil was at
tached to a headpiece of
pearls and was trimmed in
lace matching the gown. She
carried a specially designed
bouquet of silk flowers.
Miss Heidi Mantel of
Weavervilie was her sister's
Maid of Honor. She was at
tired in a gown of material
exclusively for the occasion by
Mr. Hoary Conrad, ST. of
Weaverville. It was a Gorman
dirdl skirt of green satin with
a border featuring an em
broidered design of pink
dogwood. The long sleeved
blouse was trimmed in lace
and a green velvet vest trim
med in buttons from Germany
completed the mscmhlr She
parried a cathedral style can
dle trimmed in poinsettias
hand made by the Mantel
family.
The bridesmaids were Miss
Tara Gordon, Miss Brenda
Netherton and Miss Alisa Spit
tle of Weaverville and Miss
Pam Hunts inger of Asheville.
They were attired like the
honor attendant.
Mr. Thomas Curtis, brother
of the groom from Newton,
N.C., was best man. Ushers
were Mr. Mike Humphries of
Weaverville, Mr. Mike Robin
son of Marion, N.C., Mr. Son
ny Rogers of Kanapolis, and
Mr. Tim McCurry of
Asheville.
The junior attendants were
Miss Cher Ornberg, cousin of
the bride from Spruce Pine
and Mr. Herbie Mantel,
brother of the bride from
vimv.
The flower girt* were Jen
nifer Bulhnan and J ami Ore
berg, couaina of the bride from
Spruce Pine. The ring hearer
waa Master Eli Ornberg. He
carried the rinp on a pillow
hand made with original croas
stitched design by the

Weaverville and a classmate
of the bride, presided at the
guest book.

Nita Catharine Roberts of
Marshall became the bride of
Michael Howard Davis, alio of
Marshall, on Friday, Nov. 6,
at 7 p.m., in a ceremony held
in the home of the
bridegroom's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Charlie Davis, at
Arden. The double-ring
ceremony was conducted by
the Rev. Donald Wood.
Given in marriage by her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dedrick
Roberts of Marshall, the bride
wore a gown of white
polyester and lace with
crystal pleats in the front and
long sheer sleeves. She wore a
floor-length veil attached to a
headpiece of lace. She carried
a white bride's Bible covered
with lace and topped with
lillies.
The bride is a 1979 graduate
of Madison High and is
employed at Deringer Mfg.
Co. in Marshall.
The bridegroom is a 1978
graduate of T.C. Roberson
High School and is employed
by Long John Silvers.
The couple is residing in
Marshall.
