Thorpe, the son of James and Hester Thorpe of Route 4, Marshall, took part in Team Spirit '84, the largest training exercise to be under taken in the free world this year. The exercise was a joint ef fort of U.S. and South Korean troops in an effort to improve combat readiness in the Korean theatre.
