- honors and was awarded a Bachelor of Arts
(B.A.) in elementary education. Lisenbee is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Lisenbee.
Michael Alan Ponder, the son of Mr. and Mrs.
D. Harold Ponder of Route 1, Mars Hill,
graduated with cum laude honors and was
awarded a B.S. degree in chemistry and
radiological technology.
Beverly Dare Bruce of Route 2, Marshall,
received a B.A. in English. Miss Bruce is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hall Bruce.
Richard Alfred Capps, the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Worley Capps of Route 6, Marshall,
received a B.S. degree in Biology.

B.S. degree in mathematics and history. Ricker

Sheila Kaye Ammons, the daughter of Mr.

received a B.S. degree in Accounting.
Alan DeWayne English, the son of Mr. and

received a B.S. degree in Fish and Wildlife

Angela Elaine Laughter graduated with cum
laude honors and was awarded a B.A. degree in
History.
Paul Hobart Dean received a B.A. degree in
Music.
Willis Carroll Moore received a B.A. degree
in Musical Theatre.
Kirk Daniel Palmer received a B.A. degree in
Religion.
Sunday's commencement exercise also
featured a mother and daughter, Linda and
Cynthia Hensley of Brevard, who each received
degrees in Business Administration. Mother
and daughter walked off arm-in-arm after
receiving their diplomas from Bentley.
Kirk Daniel Palmer of Mars Hill also receiv
ed a commission as a second lieutenant in the
United States Marine Corps.

Events
The Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church will
hold a tent revival starting on May 20 at 7:30
p.m. Dr. Billy Cline will be the guest speaker.
There will be a babysitting service as well as a
deaf ministry available. The church is located
just off U.S. 19-23 at the New Stock Rd. exit.
Everyone is invited to attend these services.
The Antioch Baptist Church will celebrate its
centennial anniversary on June 10 with a
homecoming dinner after servfces. Everyone is
invited to attend and bring along a covered
dish. Special singers are expected for the even
ing services. The Rev. Garland Rice extends a
warm welcome to all to attend.
The regular third Saturday night singing will
be held at the Walnut Creek Baptist Church on
May 19 at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend
and take part.
The Easter Gap Baptist Church will hold
three nights of gospel singing beginning on May
18 at 7:30 p.m. The singing will continue on May
19 and conclude on May 20. The Easter Gap
Singers, the Happy Hearts of Asheville, the
Redeemed Quartet of Maggie Valley and the
Foster Brothers of Tennessee are expected to
perform. Everyone is invited to attend.
The Red Hill Freewill Baptist Church will
present the New Hope Quartet on May 19 at 7
p.m. Rev. Howard Munsey invites everyone to
attend.
