Mars Hill School Salutes Citizenshin On Thursday, April 26, Mars Hill School observed its an nual Citizenship Awards presentation in conjunction with the CAT TRACKS year book dedication and distribu tion. Held in the school gym nasium, the program was at tended by the sixth, seventh and eighth grades. Following the opening remarks by prin cipal Frederick Anderson, Emily Jarrell, seventh grader, gave a brief devo tional. Guest speaker for the occa sion was Ms. Sue Fitzgerald, Director of the Center for Christian Education at Mars Hill College and a well-known inspirational speaker. Ms. Fit zgerald related the qualities of kingship with those of a good citizen, amoung them: a creative listener, a responsive follower and an unselfish par ticipant in life. As Ms. Fitzgerald concluded her well-received remarks, former Mars Hill School prin cipal Fred Dickerson, for ~ A' whom the award is named, came forward to address the group and to present the trophies to the 1984 recipients. Chosen by majority vote of their peers, the recipient of the seventh grade award was Christy Grigg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Grigg; Tammi Boone, daughter of Clara Boone and Daniel Boone, was honored with the eighth grade award. The trophies presented to these students, as well as the one which remains on display at the school, are sponsored by the Mars Hill Civic Club. At the close of the citizen ship presentation, members of the yearbook staff took the floor to show off the 1984 CAT TRACKS. This volume, the eighth one, was dedicated to Jack Radford, eighth grade teacher and coach.
