Reuben and Carrie Wallin of Revere
celebrated their sixty-fifth wedding anniver
sary on April 27. The couple have five children;
Richmond and Wendall Wallin, Virginia Norton
and Almarie Adams of Revere and Edison
Wallin of Walnut, five grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren .
Mr. and Mrs. Wallin were married in
Madison County on April 27, 1919.
Create A Winning Turkey Recipe

It is easy to enter the North
Carolina Turkey Cooking Con
test. To begin with, all you
have to do is find or create a
winning recipe using any
turkey part or parts other than
the whole bird. The recipe
should serve from 4 to 8 people
and may include any garnish
you would like to add. An of
ficial entry blank is not re
quired. Just write your name,
address and telephone
number on the front of your
recipe.
There are a few rules you
will need to follow in order to
qualify for this event. First,
you must be a resident of
North Carolina during the
time of the contest. Second,
entries must be postmarked
no later than July IS. Thirdly,
the entire preparation and
cooking time should not ex
ceed 3 hours.
The recipes will be judged
equally on flavor, simplicity,
appeal, and appearance.
Prizes will include: $500 first
place, $250 second place, and
$100 for third, fourth arid fifth
places. To enter your recipes,

TURKEY &
MARACONI SALAD
4 c. cooked elbow macaroni
2 c. chopped turkey
4 c. diced Cheddar cheese
'-4 c. coarsely chopped
cucumber
4 c. quartered radishes
1/4 c. sliced green onion
4 c. chopped green pepper
3/4 c. mayonnaise
4 c. bottled Italian dressing
Salt - pepper
In large bowl, combine all
ingredients; toss lightly. Chill
6 hours or more.
CAROLINA
TURKEY PIE
4 c. cooked turkey, cubed
1 can cream of celery soup
2 c. turkey broth
3/4 c. self-rising corn meal
1 c. self-rising flour
?4 tsp. poultry seasoning
Vi tsp. pepper
1 tsp. sage
2 Tbsp. onion, chopped
c. milk or buttermilk
4 c. margarine, melted
Grease a 13x9 inch
casserole. Place turkey in
prepared dish. Cobmine soup
and broth in a saucepan and
bring to a boil. Pour over
turkey pieces. Mix dry ingre
dients; add onion, milk and
margarine. Combine well and
pour over turkey mixture.

Bake at 425 degrees fro 25
minutes until well browned.
Serves 8.
HOT TURKEY
SANDWICHES
2-3 c. cooked & diced turkey
Vfc c. chopped celery
1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
1 c. unpeeled - diced apple
Mt c. mayonnaise or salad
dressing
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. curry powder
Dash salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
8 French loaves or 1 French
loaf
Mix together all ingredients
except the French loaves. Cut
the top off the French loaves.
Take out bread from the mid
dle of loaves. Fill with turkey
salad and put top back on
loaves. Wrap loaves in foil and
place on grill. Leave on grill
until loaves are heated
through ? approximately 15
to 20 minutes ? turning fre
quently. Loaves may be baked
in the oven at 350* until heated
through. Yield: 8 sandwiches.
4-H'ers Give Demonstration

contest at the Senior Citizen
Center in Marshall on Friday
Kirby Boone placed first in
the junior horse category with
a horse shoeing demonstra
tion. ALIen Lamberson
presented a fiberglass work
ing demonstration and won in
the wood-working category.
Randy Riddle was the first
place winner in safety with a
demonstration of first aid kits
and Tara Breedlove presented
a demonstration in preparing
peanut burst cookies.
In other 4-H news, the
Madison County x-H Hor
ticultural team finished third
in the district horticulture con
test held Saturday at the
Farmers' Market in Asheville.

represented Madison County
at the competition.

horticultural projects carried
out during 1984, according to
Woody Cum bo of the hor
ticulture department at
Haywood Technical College
and chairman of the Hor
ticultural Crops Commission

Development Association.

order for projects to be Judg
ed. Judging will be based upon
both field inspections of pro
clean-up along the French

Following a wedding trip to
Florida, the couple will make
their home in the Bethel com
