Looking Back . . Looking back over the many years of school the memories are abundant. Some of the memories warm our hearts or bring a smile while others bring tears to our eyes. The graduating class of 1984 has had its share of both. There was a time when we were all young and carefree, but now we are faced with the world and all the reality it contains. The teachers at Madison will never' be forgotten. Those who believed in us and helped us through the rough times because they really cared will bring plea sant memories to mind. The teachers helped shape our lives and build our character. They taught us how to deal with reality and contribute to society. The friendships which have been shared by the graduating class will remain throughout the years. We may all have come from different areas and from dif ferent environments, yet we have melted into one as the senior student body of Madison High. We have shared our hopes and ckeams, our triumphants and defeats as we grew into adults. We have grown together with help from one another. Even though we may drift apart when we go our separate ways we will alaways be as on in heart. School years are supposed to be the best years of life and certainly for the graduating class of 1964 they will long be treasured as we take our places in society. Miss Ramsey teaches World History and Ar cheology, and is presently the sponsor of the Beta Club. Miss Ramsey is one of the mast popullar teachers at Madison High and all the students have a high opinion of her. She's kind, witty and creative in class, mak ing assignments interesting for her students. I have Miss Ramsey for World Cultures and I think she's an excellent teacher. She's a real artist when it comes to drawing maps or giving ex amples of how people lived throughout hiatory. Miss Ramsey is a graduate of Western Carolina University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Studies. She has been teaching for ten years. Everyone in school knows that Miss Ramsey loves anything and everything that has to do with Garfield, the comic strip cat. The Class of 1964 made a good choice in naming Miss Ramsey the teacher of the year. Con gratulations, Miss Ramsey. Farewell , Grads By JULIE MEEKS On Friday evening, Madison High School will bid farewell to the inspiring Class of 1964 as they take a step through the doors at opportunity when they receive their diplomas. The seniors that are the Class of 1964 have offered juniors a challenge. They've given the sophomores a reprieve and were the idols of the freightened freshman class. The Class of 19M also helped the teachers tighten their vocal cords as they prepare for next year's rowdy class. Without the Class of 1964, Madison High wouldn't have been the fun it was this year. The Class of 1964 offered enthusiasm at the pep rallies, outstanding competi tion in the intramurals program and acted as partners in the Junior-Senior Prom. The graduation march will be a trip down Memory Lane for the graduates and their families. Graduation Day is a time to remember, a moment to recall the four long years of work, hard ships, laughs, teachers, friends and lessons learned. Once the graduate has taken a step with his ir her new diploma, they may feel alone in such a large world. In time, we all taste the sweetness of success and the bitterness of defeat. The graduate faces a brave new world, armed only with the lessons learned on the way to Graduation Day. I wish all the graduates a long, successful and happy life, one is which lofty goals are set and reached.
