L. Bevel Jones Is New WNC Bishop By JOHN REETZ L. Bevel Jones III, an At lanta pastor, has been ap pointed to serve as bishop of the United Methodist Church's Western North Carolina Con ference. "You're better than the best," I said. "What's your secret?" "I'm a Christian," he said. "I try to wash every car as if the Lord owned it." Work, far" from being a curse, is a blessing when viewed in this light. Jesus was a carpenter. For about fifteen years, He knew what it was to earn his bread by the sweat of His brow. And of this we can be certain? His work was the best. He never turned out anything shabby or shoddy. And neither should we. The Living Bible says, "Work hard and carefully at all you do, just as though you were working for the Lord, and not merely for your masters, remembering that it is the Lord Jesus Christ who is going to pay you, giving you your full portioi) of all He owns. He is the One you are really working for. If you don't do your best for Him, He will pay you in a way that you won't like? for He has no special favorites who can get away with shirking," Dr. LeRoy S.
