Cheese, Butter Distribution Set U.S. Department of Agricultural cheese and butter commodities will be distributed next Wednesday and, Thursday at the main office of the Department of Social Services in Marshall. Last names beginning with A-L will be able to pick up commodities on Wednesday, April 22, between the hours of noon and 4 p.m. Those with last names beginning with M-Z will be able to pick up com modities on Thursday, April 23, bet ween noon and 4 p.m. Pood Stamp recipients will receive authorization cards from Raleigh as with previous distributions. The cards must be brought to the distribu tion center to receive commodities. Some income/eligible households were pre-certified in October and those households will need to bring their blue cards in order to receive commodities. Households that don't receive food stamps or are not pre-certified will be able to make application the date of distribution that corresponds to the last name of the head of the household. This application will be made at the food stamp office. After applying, the applicant will be able to receive com modities at the main office. Man Guilty Of Christmas Tree Theft A Madison County man was con victed recently of the felonious larceny of $3,500 worth of Christmas trees in November. A jury returned the guilty verdict against Keith Rathbone during a ses sion of Madison County Superior Court last month. Superior Court Judge Kenneth A. Griffin gave Rathhone a three-year suspended sentence, placed him on supervised probation for two years and ordered him to pay a $500 fine and $3,500 in restitution. In other court action , an assault charge against Prances G. Gentry was dismissed by the District Attorney's Office after the state's witness refused to testify.
