Obituaries Lloyd Dockery Lloyd Dockery, 86, of 215 Paw Paw Road, Marshall, died May 1* at his residence. A lifelong resident of Madison County, he was the son of the late W M and Syvella Cook Dockery He was a retired farmer and rock mason and an Army veteran. Surviving are his wife, Cleo Payne Dockery; three daughters, Faye Schindler of Pettsford, N.Y., Marie Carr of Clawson, Mich., and Betty Church News Red Hill To Present Drama Red Hill Free Will Baptist Church will present a program of Christian drama Tuesday beginning at 7 p.m. featuring the Evangel Players from Nashville, Tenn. The Rev. Dave Aumiller, pastor, invites everyone to attend. Shelton Reunion Sunday A reunion of the decendants of Sol and Ann Shelton will be held Sunday at Belva Baptist Church beginning at 12 noon. All family and friends are invited to attend and bring a picnic lunch. v Revival Set At Bear Creek A revival will be held at Bear Creek Baptist Church beginn ing Sunday at 7:30 p.m. The visiting speaker will be the Rev. Everette Kitts from Knoxville, Tenn. Singling To Benefit Cancer Victim A benefit singing will be held for Jim "Jim Bear" Hensley, a cancer victim, at the Greater Ivy Community Center on Sun day beginning at 2 p.m. Shoal Hill Plans Singing Shoal Hill Baptist Church will hold a singing service Satur day beginning at 7 p.m. The Rev. Anthony Fox invites everyone to attend. Salvation Army Revival Continues The Salvation Army Church of Bonnie Hill will continue revival services through Sunday night. The meetings will begin each night at 7 p.m. and the evangelist Rev. Lattie Henderson will be speaking. Ponder of the home; two son, Earl Dockery of White Oak and Cum on Dockery of Leicester; a sister. Belle D. Wilds of Weaverville; 11 grand children; and, 11 great grandchildren. Services were held Friday in the chapel of Bowman Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Dockery officiated. Burial was in Kirk-Payne Cemetery. Geneva Griffey Geneva Johnson Griffey, 60, of 1670 U.S. Highway 25-70, Marshall, died May 19, A lifelong resident of Madison County, she was a daughter of the late Will and Polly Gosnell Johnson. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and the owner and operator of Griffey Nursery. Surviving are her husband, Dewey Griffey; three sons, Eugene and Dewey Griffey Jr. of Marshall and Joe William Griffey of Rutherford ton; a daughter, Ethel Lou Griffey of Weaverville; a brother, Robert Johnson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Joann Price of Eugene, Ore.; nine grandchildren; and, two great grandchildren. Services were held Friday in the chapel of Bowman Funeral Home The Revs. Everett Haney and E.M. Pettit officiated. Burial was in Grif fey Family Cemetery. Ben Barnes Sr. Ben H. Barnes Sr., 81, of Route 4 Candler, died May IB at his residence. A native of Madison County, he was a son of the late Daniel and Maggie Ferguson Barnes. He retired from the U.S. Army. Surviving are his wife, Amelia Richardson Barnes; a son, Ben Barnes Jr. of Candler; two sisters, Beatrice Rogers and Lois Shepherd of Asheville ; and, four brothers, James Barnes of Colorado, Harlen Barnes of Asheville, Joe Barnes of Candler and Ernest Barnes of California. Services were held Friday in the Clifford T. Waldrup, 90, of S3 Salem Road, Weaverville, died May 20 in a Madison County nursing home. A native of Madison County, he had lived in Buncombe County for the past 14 years. He was a retired farmer and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of French Broad Masonic Lodge No. 292 AF&AM and the son of the late John and Orpha Tillery Waldrup and the husband of the late Thelma Merrill Waldrup. Surviving are four daughters, Carlene Frisby of Marshall, Aldeen Smathers of Weaverville, Louellen Costic of Virginia Beach, Va., and Louetta Gregg of Swannanoa; two sons, Elwood B. Waldrup of Weaver ville and R. V ester Waldrup of Arden ; three sisters. Myrtle Sprinkle of Marion, Delia Griffin of Mars Hill and Nellie Jones of Ocala, Fla. ; nine grandchildren; and, 11 great grandchildren. Services were held Friday in Weaverville First Baptist Church, of which he was a member. The Rev. Lee Roy Denton officiated. Burial was in Old Bull Creek Cemetery with Masonic rites by French Broad Masonic Lodge. Mabel E. Robinson Mabel E. Robinson, 71, of 35 Blake Drive, Fletcher, died Thursday in a Fletcher hospital. A native of Madison County, she had lived in Henderson County for the past 28 years. She was the daughter of the late John C. and Mary Anderson Gardner and the wife of W. Vasco Robinson, who died in I960. She was a former manager for United Five and Ten Stores. Surviving are a son, Willard Robin son of Flat Rock; a daughter, Ida Sue Robinson; two stepdaughters, Joyce STEP-PARENTS It's the hardest thing you've ever done. Dolph Robinson officiated. Fred Carr Fred Carr, 77, of 1080 Monte Vista Road, Candler, died Friday in an Asheville hospital. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired from American Enka Corp. and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was the son of the late John and Loduskie Embler Carr. Surviving are his wife, Juanita McFee Carr; four daughters, Patsy Carah of Germany, Nellie McElrath and Brenda Willis of Candler and Ruth Williams of Brevard; three sisters, Ethel Seay of Asheville, Genevieve Willis of Leicester and Ruth Howell of Raleigh; 11 grand children; and, four great grandchildren. Services were held Sunday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home. The Rev. Stanley Taylor officiated. Burial was in Hice Hill Cemetery. Samuel H. Watkins Samuel H. Watkins, 82, of Route 1 Mills Spring, died Saturday in a Henderson ville hospital. A native of Buncombe County, he had been a resident of Polk County since 1953. He was the husband of Bertha Catherine Kilby Watkins, who died in 1955. He was a retired farmer and attended Try on Seventh-day Adventist Church. Surviving are five daughters, Edna Bolt of Columbus, Margaret Frady of Columbia, S.C., Grace Pittman of Henderson ville, Martha Dell Hare and Patsy Penland, both of Sky land; a ton, Donald Watkina of Fttchcr, five fiaters, Molly Moore of Weaver ville, Edith Heatberly of Naples, Genevelve Allan of Fletcher, Joaephine Orr cf Dana and Viola Sulo of Flint, Mich.; three brother*, Chauncey Watkina of Naples, Walter Watkina of Fletcher and Joaepta Watkina of Old Fort; IS grand children; and, S3 great grandchildren. Services were held Monday in Thos. Shepherd's Church Street Chapel. Elder Ralph Orkman and the Rev. Charlea Magnet officiated. Burial was in Antioch Baptist Church cemetery in Democrat. Mildred M. Jamison Mildred Monteith Jamison, 62, of Hall Heights, Sylva, died Friday in a Sylva hospital A lifelong resident of Jackson Coun ty, she managed cafeterias in Sylva Webster High and Fairview Elemen tary schools for the past 28 years.
