William Weaver Pritchard, 78, of 40
Vermont Ave., Asheville, died June 1
in an Asheville hospital.
A native of Madison County, he had
Uv?d in Buncombe County for the
past 50 years. He retired as a truck
mechanic from Biltmore Dairy
Farms and was a member of Grace
Baptist Church. He was a son of the
late Morgan Perry and Berla Jane
Ramsey Pritchard of Marshal).
Surviving are his wife, Marie
Ramsey Pritchard; two daughters,
Jeanne Singleton of Greensboro and
Ann Ray of the home; a brother,
Joseph P. Pritchard of Phoenix,
Ariz.; four grandchildren; and, two
great-grandchildren
Services were held last Thursday in
the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral
Home. The Revs. C.R. Pierce Jr and
E.S. Morgan officiated. Burial was in
R.V. Ramsey Cemetery in Marshall.
John Brigmon
John Blake Brigmon, 73, of 900 Re
ems Creek Road, Weaverville, died
Friday in an Asheville hospital.
A Madison County native, he had
lived in Buncombe County for the put
11 yean. He was a retired supervisor
from Continental Can and a son of the

Surviving are his wife, Nell Wheeler
Brig moo; a daughter, Judith Carolyn
Fannon of Leicester; a son, Larry
Brigmon of Weaverville; two sisters,
Lois Robinson and Irene Carroll of
Mars Hill; five grandchildren, and,
two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday in the
chapel of Capps Funeral Home, Mars
Hill. The Revs. John Cook and Stanley
Peek officiated. Burial was In
Brigmon-McPeters Cemetery.
Myrtle Hurst
Myrtle Capps Hurst, 78, of Pinnacle
Park Road, Weaverville, died Friday
in an Asheville hospital.
A native of Buncombe County, she
was a member of the Weaverville
First Presbyterian Chun^hfifiSflK.

and, three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday in the
chapel of West Funeral Home. The
Revs. Billy Pressley, Arnold Vess and
Russell Harper officiated. Burial was1
in B rank Cemetery.
Majorie Curtis
Marjorie Re vis Curtis, 85, of North
Buncombe School Road, Weaverville,
died June 1 in an Asheville hospital.
A native of Buncombe County, she
was a member of Home Demonstra
tion Club. She was a daughter of the
brothers, Joseph E. Re vis Sr. of
Saluda and Hillard L. He vis of Con
cord, Calif.
Services were held Thursday in
Weaverville First Presbyterian
Church, of which she was a member.
The Revs. John Warren and Russell
Harper officiated. Burial was in
Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
Nettie Ball
Nettie Freeman Ball, 92, of 101
Meadows Town Road, Marshall, died
last Thursday in an Asheville
hospital.
A lifelong resident of Madison
County, she was a daughter of the late
Dave and Sally Freeman and the wife
of Pearson Ball, who died in 1972.
Surviving are a daughter, Emma
Dale Pons of Valdese; five sons, Allen
and Marvin Ball of Marshall, David
and Richard Ball of Pisgah Forest
and John Floyd Ball of Whiteville;
three sisters, Maggie Ferguson and
Linda Jarrett of Marshall and Hattie
Ponder of Leicester; three brothers,
Robert and Roy Freeman of Marshall
and Major Freeman of Alexander; 15
grandchildren; and, several great
grandchildren.

George Green
George Ervin Green, M, of 1 Bend
of-Ivy Road, Marshall, died June S in
an Asheville hospital.
A lifelong resident of Madison
County, he was a retired farmer and
a member of Old Fellow Lodge. He
was a son of the late Will and Dora
Fisher Green.
Surviving are his wife, Lucy Tweed
Green; two sons, Joe Green of Mar
shall and Bruce Green of Weaver
ville; five daughters, Mary Ruth
Black and Belva Payne of Weaver
ville, Jean Sprinkle of Jonesboro,
Tenn., Bernice Welch of Manassas,
Va., and Geneva Roberts of Mar
shall; two brothers, Wayne Green of
Weaverville and Howard Green of
Marshall; four sisters, Orla Wilde,
Thursie Silvers and Alice Buckner,
all of Marshall, and Mabel Norton of
Weaverville; 21 grandchildren; and,
10 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday in Oak
Grove Baptist Church, of which he
was a member. The Revs. CI ell
Fisher, Sherman Tweed and Jerry
Wilson officiated. Burial was in the
church cemetery.

Fairview Homecoming Sunday
Fairview Cemetery will hold homecoming services on Sun
day.
Jehovah's Witness Convention Set
Approximately 90 Jehovah's Witnesses from Madison Coun
ty are expected to participate in a district convention Friday
through Sunday at Greenville Memorial Auditorium.
Chandler Reunion Is Saturday
The annual Chandler reunion will be held Sunday at the Bar
nard Freewill Baptist Church. The Rev. Oliver Cagle will be
the guest speaker with singing to follow. Lunch will be served
on the church lawn.
Bible School To Begin
The Christ United Methodist Church in Weaverville will hold
Vacation Bible School Wednesday through July 16 with a sand
wich supper at 6 p.m. and classes from 6:30-8 p.m.
Dry Pond Decoration Day Planned
Decoration services will be held Sunday at Dry Pond
cemetary beginning at 11 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend.
Antioch To Sponsor Supper
Antioch Methodist Church will sponsor a ham supper to
raise funds for the Antioch cemetery on Saturday from 4 to 7
p.m. Dinners may be ordered to take out. Tickets are $5 for
adults and $2.50 for children.
Alexander Church Plans Singing
Alexander Baptist Church will hold singing services Sunday
at 7 p.m. Several groups will be featured and will present
songs from the new convention song book.
Middle Laurel Plans Singing
Middle Laurel Church of God will conduct singing services
Saturday beginning at 7 p.m.
Piney Grove Plans Homecoming
Piney Grove Baptist Church will hold homecoming services
Sunday beginning at 10:45 a.m. A covered dish dinner will
begin at noon will singing to be held in the afternoon.
Anderson Branch Homecoming Set
Anderson Branch Freewill Baptist Church will hold
homecoming services on Sunday. Everyone is invited to at
