The Laurel Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a bingo
game Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. at the firehall. Proceeds
will be used for the fire department.
4 Music Man ' To Hit St?ige
The musical "The Music Man" hits the stage at the new
North Buncombe High School theater beginning today (Thurs
day) at 8 p.m. The play will is directed by James F. DeBruhl,
for whom the new theater is named. The play will continue
Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., with a Sunday matinee to begin
at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $4, and $3 for students. Reservations
are recommended.
6 Messiah 9 To Be Presented
The Weaverville Community Chorus will present Handel's
"Messiah" at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 29 at the Weaverville United
Methodist Church.
Mars Hill Parade Is Saturday
The Mars Hill Christmas parade will be held Saturday at 2
p.m. through downtown Mars Hill.
Marshall PTA s Sponsor Dinner
The Marshall Primary and Elementary Parent-Teacher
Associations are sponsoring a fried chicken dinner from 11:30

Mars Hill Planning Board To Meet
The Mars Hill Planning and Zoning Board will meet at 7

Hot Springs Christmas Parade Set
The town of Hot Springs will host its annual Christmas
Parade on Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. Anyone interested in helping or

and interested persons will meet today (Thursday) at 6 p.m. at
Town Hall.
Club To Sponsor Turkey Dinner
The Walnut-Brush Creek Community Development Club
will be sponsoring a turkey dinner Sunday beginning at 11 a.m.
at the Walnut Elementary School. Prices are children under 5

Drivers 9 License Tests Offered
A drivers license examiner will be in Hot Springs on the first

special called meeting Tuesday mor
ning, agreed to hire the firm of
McMahan and Reese to conduct the
survey at a cost of $2,900 to IS, 000.
The commissioners also agreed to
release tax, penalties and interest
charged to US taxpayers. The tax
should be rallied because the pro
perty had been improperly listed or

Social Services
Commissioner Reese Steen did not
attend Tuesday's meeting. He and
and Robert Cappa, chairman of the
board, have disagreed several times
over special daytime meetings.
Steen has said that the meetings
disrupt his dentistry practice in Mars
Hill and has said it is not fair to his
patients to ask them to reschedule ap
pointments on such short notice.

Mars Hill Christmas
Parade Is Saturday
The annual Mars Hill Christmas
parade will be held Saturday beginn
ing at 2 p.m.
A special float will preceed the
other participants to collect food,
clothes and toys to be distributed to
the needy this Christmas season, said
Carolyn Rice, coordinator of the

The parade is not just for Mars Hill,
but for all of Madison County and

Taylor Pleads Guilty To Assault
After more than a day of testimony
in Madison County Superior Court, a

Charles Taylor pleaded guilty
Tuesday to the charge of firing into
an occupied dwelling, .nd to two

pistol into the home of Larry Wyatt on
Cody Road, and with assaulting
Wyatt and Raymond Buckner with a
deadly weapon.
The trial of Taylor began Monday,
