A short time before his death his wife asked him if he were hungry. His rep';y was "yes, I am hungry for rest and peace." The funeral was conducted in the home by Revs. Deitz, Carson and Snyder, after which the body was in terred in the family cemetery. He leaves a wife, one son and several grandchildren, to whom we extend deep sympathy. "Blessed are they who seek sweet peace, the gift of God's love, and find it." Mr. Queen was a good neighbor and will be greatly missed in the community. Ha was about 74 years old. Announcement has been received in Balsam of the birth of an eight pound, eight ounce daughter in the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Pen nighton in Asheville, Oct. 24th. Mr Pennington was, before her marriage. Miss Selma McKay. Mrs. A. F. Dock was called home from Pablo Beach. Fla. on account of the illness of her mother, Mrs Annie Giessler. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Ed Smathers Oct. 26th, a daughter. Master Benjamin Bryson spent la-t week-end with Mr. M. C. Queen in Waynes ville. Mrs. W. S. Christy and little gran 1- daughter, Camilla Refsahl, left last i week for Norfolk, Va. Miss Edith Christy left last week' to spend the winter with her siscor, Mrs. Finley Carson, in Lakeland, Fla. ' Mr. Bill Giessler of Newark, N. J. i and Mr. Leroy Dock of New York arrived Thursday to see their mother and grandmother, Mrs. Annie Giesslct who is very ill. Mr. and Mrs. John T. Jones went to Sylva Monday. I Mrs. R. J. Bryson went to Waynes-j ville Monday. j "Home Coming Day" was observ ed in the Baptist church here Sunday j but on account of the very bad weath- j er, the attendance was small. Te, speakers also failed to come. How- j ever, Mr. It. R. Fishor of Addie made j a splendid talk on the subject "Self Control." Good sinking was furn j ished by the Balsam choir, there was an abundance of good dinner and a'l whn were present will remember ihc t day as a most enjoyable one. j Mr. Beorge T. Knight went to Sylva on business Monday. , Mr. Crockett Ensley made a flying hip to Sylva Monday.
