Plumb strange! Well, I reckon I got ym neeUpn within a public sewage system is required when sewer lines are avail able. The installation of septic tanks with underground absorption is re quired where , water carriage is used, and the home is not accessible to a sewer, line. Other .homes coming within the state law, or -'-within 3u yards of another home, are required to build and maintain a' state approv-. ed privy. The Standard Milk Ordinance, of the V. S. P.; It. S. is operative in the coun ty, upon adpotion by the county board of health. Inspections, are made of all dairies,; and; laboratory analysis, of milk samples are made upon an ave rage of every thirty days. The county is supplied , by milk from fourteen Grade A dairies, which either distri bute raw milk, or supply-. milk to the Western Carolina Creamery Company at Waynesville, where it is pasteuriz ed and distributed. All dairy herds are free from tuberculosis and Bang's Disease, which is shown by a recent examination by the U. S. Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Animal Industry. 1 Supervision is maintained oyer all public eating places coming under the X. C. State Board of Health regula tions pertaining to hotels and , cafes. All food handlers are regularly ex amined for the presence of communi cable diseases. Monthly inspection of public eating places is made, and one making a score less than the minimum requirements of the State Board of Health is closed. (6) The Health Department main tains a complete laboratory for the examination of blood and body, secre tions 'for disease organisms and para sites. This service is used by the health department personnel for the examination of snccimen. includim: milk and water analysis, and is, ..) available to the private, physicians,; (7) Health education constitutes a very important phase of health woik.
