COUNTY AGENT
W. D. SMITH'S
co 1 u m n
One of the interesting things the
County Board of Commissioners ac-j
complished in their meeting on Mon
day of this week was to approve the.
project of a potato storage house for
the county. The board guaranteed
the sight for the house. The build
ing is to be placed on the south end
of the old factory sight between the
highway and railroad near where
Galloway's sawmill now operates. A
new -..modern Duilding next to the
highway, using the newest equipment
known for potato storage, will be a
decided asset to the county farmers.
Details of the building are yet to be
worked out with the Rehabilitation
oraginzation, which will provide the
building. However, it is certain that
the building will not be less than 50
x&O feet, w ith three floors, and a cap
acity of at least 10,000 bushels. It
is possible that the potato crop for
the county sometimes amounts to
100,000 bushels. It may be that a
larger building can be arranged for
later, if not immediately. The third
floor is to be so that a truck can load
or unload from the highway or to the
highway; on the ground floor it will
be possible to load or unload to trucks
or train. It is hoped to get this pro
ject under way at once; it has been
under consideration for several

Our terracing program here in the
county is now ready to go forward.
The board of commissioners on Mon
day voted to finance a terracing omt
for the county. This unit is to bt
self-liquidating, paid for within twe
years by the small fee which will te
paid hy each farmer for whom ter
racing is done. This unit does not
cost the farmer who does not use it
one penny directly or indirectly.
A number of farmers are ready tc
use the outfit at once. We are going
to work with this unit with groups.
We will have to do this in order to
save money. The unit is now in Clyde
township. If the fellows in this
community are ready to use the ur.iti
we will continue there with ; such
areas as can be terraced now. If
there are ditches and drain in any
community which need attention most
of these jobs can be taken care of
with this outfit.

Parents are just at' that impres

So I took my stand early. I in
sisted that my parents patronize
only Esso dealers and stations.
For Esso station products ;; backed

So believe me, you don't catch

And that takes a big load off my

they're in good hands when thiy
