CH ALTER The Doreas Bell Love Chapter of the Daughters of the American Rev olution held the Ma'- meeting with Mrs. Leon Killian on Wednesday af ternoon. Mia. J. Harden Howell, the regent, presided. The house was at tractively arranged in quantities of iris shading from deep purple to light lavender. During tha business session Mrs. E. B. Camp reported that she had sent since the last meeting one hag to Crossnore and had two others nearly full to send. Mi. George Hampton, of Canton, st :ted that she had presented the two citizenship medals of the Canton High School by the chapter, at the commencement exercises. i.Mrs. V. I'. Swift, l reported that she had al.su presented the medals to the winners in the Waynesville Township High School, with the the medals going to Miss Mary Willie Kothu and Lachlan Hyatt. In behalf of Mrs. W. H. Belk. state ie gent, who is presenting medals to the eight girls who made the highest average in the recent Ruth Bryan (.wed Citizenship contest, she gave to Miss Anne Marie Peck, who was one of the eight in the state, the. handsome medal from Mrs. Helk. Reports of various committees were heard. The chairman of hospital, Mrs. Geo. Plott, reported having sent ea h of the boys alloted to the .o.al group at Oteen cigarettes and Easter Lilies for Easter. A Mother's Day contribution is to be given to pay for the carnations furn ished to each man on Mother's Day. Mrs. MeGee reported having met with the eom.mit.tee on the l-eautitica-tion of the community and gave the plans of the committee to the unit. The members were asked to co-operate in any way possible in carrying out this work. The president ap pointed Mrs. Hurst Burgin, Mrs. Eli MeGee and Mrs. M. C. Green as a committee to make plans for a Me morial Day program, May ,'iOth. The annual r.-ppy sale was announced by the chairman, Miss Ida Jean Brown, for Saturday, May 25th. The pop pies are made by the familie-, of the disabled veterans at Oteen and pro ceeds from the sale go to help these veterans and their families. MARRIAGE OF INTEREST TAKES PLACE ON SUNDAY Of interest to friends here was the marriage of Miss Freeda Eliza-i both Plott and Mr. Robert Edwards Potts which took place on Sunday afternoon at :! o'clock, in the pres ence of a small group of friends. Rev. W. A. Rollins, presiding elder of the' Western North Carolina district of the Methodist church, performed t he ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. :uid Mrs. Jim Plott, of Canton, and h is a large circle of relatives and friends in this secition. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Potts, of (Markesville, Ga. He came to Waynesville in 1927 and was asso ciated with, his cousin, Mr, Felix Stovall, in the American I' ruit Stand He is now with the Food Store. Mr. and Mrs. Potts are at home to their friends on Meadow street. MXRIONETTES TO BE PRESNTED AT LONG S CHURCH fhe Ladies Aid Society of Long's church will sponsor a piogram Fri !ay evening, May 17th at the church, featuring Mable C utile's Marionettes. A beautiful miniature stage will be set up complete, with curtains and all stae properties in scale with the minute size of the dolls. These lit tle figures were designed and made by Mrs, Cagde, and have created a sensation wherever she has presented them This will be an evening of en tertainment fjr iboth children and grown upi.
