GIVES BIRTHDAY PARTY
On Saturday afternoon little Miss
Nancy Keener assembled a group of
her young friends in celebration of
her eighth birthday anniversary. She
was assisted in entertaining her guests
by her mother, Mrs. Nancy Keener.
The Easter motif wa$ used with
attractive features. The long table was
covred with a .loth of yellow and
each place was marked bv favors of
Easter eggs and white bunnies. Yel
low candles were placed at the nds
of the table, and pink candles were
used on the cake. Ices, cakes and
candies were served,,

servance of his fourth birthday anni
versary. He was assisted in receiv
ing by his mother, Mrs. Tom Talia
ferro, and Miss Anne Jones.
The guests were entertained with a
Micky Mousi movie, after which
games arranged for the afternoon
were enjoyed. Following the games
ices, cakes and candies, were served
from the dining room, which was at
tractively decorated in a motif of yel
low and white. The table was center
ed with the cake, with its four candles
and yellow flowers were arranged on
tne side board and serving tables. The
place of each small guest was marked
by a small basket of candy, a yellow
can, and an Easter bunny.
The guest list included, Jean Hodges,
John Hodges, Elsie Jane Green, Eu
gene and Sonny Howell, George and
Dewey Stovall, Barbara Anne and
Tommy Boyd, Mary Anne Massie,

WAYNESVILLE MUSIC CLUB TO
HOLD MEETING SATURDAY
The Waynesville Music Club will
meet on Saturday afternoon at 3:30
o'clock with Mrs. L. M. Richeson, as
hostess. Mrs. Hugh A. Love, presi
dent, will preside. Miss Ida Jean
Brown will have charge of the pro
gram, and the subject under study
will be "Irish Music."

MRS. HUGH A. LOVE ATTENDS
LUNCHEON IN ASHEVILLE
On Saturday Mrs. Hugh A. Iove
attended a luncheon given by Mrs.
William Ray Griffin, at her home in
Biltmore Forest. The affair was ten
dered in honor of the presidents of
the music clubs, in the first district, of
the State Federation of Music
Clubs, of which Mrs. Griffin is the
president.
SEVEN CLUB GIVES DANCE ON
SATURDAY EVENING
On Saturday evening the members
of the Seven Club entertained with a
dance. A number of out of town cou
ples, as well as a large number of the
younger set, were present for the af
fair, Music was furnished by Jimmy
Gunn and his oivhestra. of Char
lotte. The next dance to tx given by
the club will be on April the 11th.

son, Frederick P. Hutton, Jr., born
March the 21st. Mrs. Hutton is the
former Miss Edna Garrett, daugh

AFFAIR AT COUNTRY CLUB
The oustanding affair of the week
was the contract party given on Fri
day afternoon at the Waynesville
Country Club by Mrs. E. C. Wagen
feld, in compliment to Mrs. A. F.
Hunt, of Boston, Mass., who with her
husband is spending the spring sea
son here as guests at the Palmer
House. The hostess was assisted bv
Mrs. L. M. Richtvson. Mrs. W. H. Huff,
and Mrs. James M. Long in receiving
the guests.
For the occasion the lounge, where
the tables were placet! for playing was
arranged in quantities of spring flow
ers, with the cheerful note of a blazing
log fire, which dispelled the chilly
atmosphere outside. Prizes of unu
sual plants in a variety of lovely pot
tery jars, were presented to the win
ners of the high scores of each table,
to Mrs. Hunt the honor guest, to Mrs.
Huff, and to Mrs. L. M. Richeson,.
Winners of the table prizes were: Mrs.
Jack Way, Mrs, Hugh Massie, Mrs.
W. Lauriston Hardin, Jr., Mrs. George
Bishchoff, Mrs. N. V. Lancaster, and
Mrs. S. P. Gay. Mrs. J. P. Dicus, cut
the consolation.

the past week in Gritlin, Ga., where she
was guest of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. W. W. Norman.
.Miss Sarah Elmore, who is located
in town, while she is connected with
the resettlement work, is a guest at
the Palmer House.
Mrs. John K. Boone, who has been
the guest of her sisters, Miss Cotrie
and Miss Anne Kerr, in Asheville, re
turned home on Sunday afternoon.
Miss Josephine Plott had as her
guest over the week-end, Miss Emily
Palmer, student of the Western Caro
lina Teachers College.
