day evening, followed bv a concert bv
the Forest City Hand at 8 o'clock.
This morning at 10:00 o clock the
annual declamation and recitation
contest will be staged, with awards
made. ,
Tonight at S o'clock the graduating -exercises
of the seventh grade will,
be held in the school 'auditorium. I
On Friday evening at H o'clock the
senior graduating program will he
given. The principal address of the
occasion will be given by Dean A. K.
t'ate, of Carson Newman Golleire.
Jack Messer, county superintendent,
of education, will award the diplomas
to the fifteen graduates of the high
school.
During the past year there have

Daughters of the Confederacy. Each
chapter in the district is responsmle

meeting of the year, though not con

North Carolina convention of teach
ers of vocational education, which

Offered By Dunham
Donald Dunham, owner and man
ager of the Dunham House, who is
one of the leading gameners in this
section, is offering to give away this
week to anyone desiring them, small
petunia plants. They will be avail
able for a few days only, as the plot
on which they are now growing w-ill
be dug up and cultivated, v

cooking school staged last week-end
was a success from every angle. The
attendance exceeded 1,200, and state
ments from those attending was to
the effect that the school was better
than last year's.
Several women attended two ses
sions, and some were present for all
three. Some of the better house
wives and cooks of the communitv
were warm in their praise of the
things shown and explained that
would make housework easier.
Plans are already underway to hold
another similar school next year.

T. J. Cathey, county auditor, is
confined at his home, near Bethel, on
account of illness. Ho is expected
to be back in his office within the
next few days.
