One that is prized since it came near being lost is a volcanic rock from Seera Island near Aden, Arabia, where according to one author, Solomon and the Queen of Sheba met. It was sent by the Master of the Council of Royal and Select Masters at Aden, Arabia and as placed in the personal care of ("apt. Morris of the S. S. Salisbury, a British ship, to be delievered to the company's agents at New York for forwarding. After traveling 111,000 miles the vessel entered Boston har bor about three weeks ago and in the fog struck an unchartered rock ripping the vessel open and sinking it. The first package to be saved was that containing the rock from Aden. After making all arrangements to get in touch with some Mason to whom he could entrust the stone for safe forwarding. The Consul's of fice contacted the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts who sent their ser vice director to interview Capt. Mor ris and accepted the responsibility of seeing that the stone was safely delivered to Waynesville. 0 The dedication of the marker and other features of the three day as sembly of the Grand Council of Roy al and Select Masters in North Caro lina is expecting to attract at least The supper meeting of the Haywood County Governor's; hospitality com mittee, of which Charles E. Hay, Jr., is chairman, which was-held at Lake Logan Lodge on Tuesday night, was successful, both from a social as well as a business angle. The meeting had been called so that the members of the group in the county might have an opportunity to become acquainted with each other, to gain information regarding the re lationship of the state advertising committee to the governor's hospi tality committee, and to determine ways and means of the proper and most effective functioning of the committee. Mr. Ray presided over the meeting. Principal speakers were T. E. Pick ard, of Raleigh, executive secretary of the governor's hospitality commit tee, John Baskerville, of the division of slate advertising, both being con nected with the state department of conservation, and Robin F. Phillips, of Asheville, chairman of the Bun combe county hospitality committee. Others taking part on the program were; Mrs. Guiiter Bohnsdahl, of Canton, county vice chairman, who introduced the Canton members of the committee, Mayor Paul Murray, of Canton, W. J. Damtoft, Mrs. McKee, of Camp Junaluska, and Mr. Wilson, director of music at New College Community. Around sixty persons, including the members of the county hospitality , committee and guests attended the meeting. 500 prominent Masons from twenty states on July 11, 12, and l.'ith, and promises to be one of Western North Caralina's outstanding convention of this season.
