Physicians know potive!y how to prevent and treat it, and there is no need for any child to contract it. TOXIN ANTI-TOXIN INOCULATION IS A SAFE, SANE WAY TO PROTECT AGAINST THIS DISEASE A serum has been perfected that will give protection againsc Diphtheria. It is called "Toxin antitoxin," is harmless and will make the child safe foin the disease. It may be that your child has a natural immunity to diph theria, arid, if so, this can be established by a simple test, by a competent physician. This test, known to medicine as the "Schick test," consists of one hypodermic injection. If the reaction is negative, your child will be very unlikely to cca tract the disease. Should the reaction be positive, the chiid should be given "Toxin anti toxin" for orotection. DRUGSTORE V"' 29 a Series "felling . Rubin's invention, which resem bles dry snow and the result of a combination of three chemical ingre dients, was perfected to his satisfac tion after a twoyear-in-the-base-ment struggle with an idea conceiv ed on an ice wagon. He took his brainschild to the National Inventors' Congress where it was awarded first prize. Rubin demonstrates his invention by placing a thermometer in a glass of water, the temperature of which hovers in the 50-degree zone. He then drops in a pinch of "powilered ice." The temperature plunges quickly to below freezing. The inventive man points nut that "powdered ice" could be taken on picnics, poured into, a tubful of wati r and used to keep down the temiitra- ture ot beer and pop. He also he- this week lieves the farmer would find it useful to chill milk, out of cows, of course. "Doctors could even use it on emer gency cases," he reasoned. Rubin goes on to point -nut that his inven tion also freezes awav pain bv nunrfi i . ' ing nerves. i. "It isn't poisonous," he siiys. . "I I sometimes drink it.' ! Rubin does not reveal which three chemicals are combined to produce, "powdered ice." Ho says it defies chemical analysis. He showed it to the -head-of... a large chemical firm. The man could only "ts-tsh" won deringly and declared that "he could- n't believe it." Rubin explains also that he can proiluce "powdered heat" merely hy leaving out one of the three chemi cals which are combined to from "powdered ice," The young ice man-inventor start- l V Baptist To Meet Sunday At Crabtree The t'rnhtree Baptist church will be the nieeting place for the regular fifth Sunday meeting, with n program on which outstanding Haywood Bap tists will appear.
