C, Bishop William N. Ains worth, of Macon, Ga., Bishop James Cannon, Jr., of Richmond, Va., ana Bishop Hoyt M. Dobbs, of Jackson, Miss, will take part in the religious side of the programs. Two of the main speakers to be beard during the assembly will be J. Melville Broughton, governor of North Carolina, and Clyde R. Hoey, Shelby, attorney and former goven aor of the state. Governor Brough ton will begin the second week of the session with an address on "Patriotism and Religion" at 11 o'clock Sunday morning, June 22. and Mr. Hoey will speak on "Our Country -Peace or War," at 8 o'clock Friday evening, July 4. On the lighter side of the sum mer program will be numerous en tertainment features band con certs, moving pictures, cartoons, re citals, and contests. Disney cartoons and full-length motion picture features have been rented by the assembly and will be shown at intervals throughout the summer. A powerful 16-mm pro jector has been obtained from Bell and Howell, of Chicago, and will be used by the assembly. One of the moving pictures which is expected to attract much attention is a sound picture of "Journey to Jerusalem," a Broadway play. The play was filmed while in actual production on the stage. The administration staff of the assembly consists of: Dr. Lambeth; Mrs. Katherine Ray Atkins, assist ant superintendent and assistant treasurer; Miss Imogens Miles, sec retary to the superintendent; Wal ter Vassar, director of music; E. E. Kiedel, director of recreation; Mrs. C. W. Turpin, director of publicity, and Mrs. Martha Frances Morgan, children's playground supervisor. In reply to the question asked, more than 1,000 youths made spe cific suggestions for their parti cipation in programs of training to replace men needed in the armed forces of the United States and in defense industries, ' Mr. Lang stated. More than 800 suggested a program to enable youth to keep physically fit through recreation and health improvement, "while more than BOO suggested the form ation of organizations and groups designed to bring about a fuller appreciation of democratic prm cinles. the American form of government, and improved citl zenship. Other suggestions of a positive nature included the pur chase of defense bonds, the pro duction of food through individ ual and community gardens, su veys of local participation in de fense needs, providing reading and recreation materials for army posts, disregarding obvious prop aganda on the part of subversive elements, operation of girls' cler ical, nursing and sewing services, general support of the nation's defense program, and participation In that program through the Junior Red Cross, 4-H clubs, the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, youth organ izations, flying clubs, and other - groups. V-:V-. The entire survey was marked by a real desire on the part of youth for guidance in active par ticipation in the defense program, Lang added. ' Assisting in conducting the sur vey were the local schools, and civic and business organizations. ' R. T. Messer is chairman of the National Youth Administration ad visory committee in Haywood county, in which 81 youths participated. St. John's Girls' Camp Opens Here Next Monday The first four week period of St. John's Girls' Camp will begin next Monday morning, June 16. The camp is under of Rev. Sisters Mary fulia and Mary Mark. The purpose of the camp is to offer parents an opportunity io in sure for their daughters a happy and healthful summer vacation in the invigorating cool climate of Western North Carolina. Under the supervisidn of the Sisters, the girls live in a comfort ably furnished home."
