D. L. Paschall Is New
Assistant Farm Agent

sumed his duties here this past
week-end, succeeding Wayne Cor
pening, who was promoted to coun
ty agent after J. C. Lynn was
made district agent.
Mr. Paschall specialized in ani
mal husbandry and AAA work,
and in Haywood will , devote much
of his time with' demonstration
farmers, similar to that carried
on by Mr. Corpening.
The new assaistant agent was
reared on a Tennessee farm, near
Paris, and after graduation from
high school, spent his summer
vacations working for different
branches of the federal agricultur
al program, in such capacities' as
assistant field tobacco specialist,
senior field assistant of the AAA,
and even filled an unexpired term
as a college professor after his
graduation from the University of
Tennessee!
Mr. Paschall, known to his farm
er friends as Dwight, attended
University ' of Tennessee Junior
College and graduated from the
University of Tennessee.
Since last spring he has worked
with the war department in Ten
nessee doing special work, a posi
tion he held until coming to Hay
wood. .
He has a brother who has served
as county agent in Tennessee for
13 years, and a sister who was for
merly a home demonstration agent,
le is the youngest of eight chil
dren.' That is about all the reporter
learned about the new agent, as
he was anxious to go over some
reports with District Asrent Lynn.

Eighteen Haywood
Boys Enrolled This
Week At CCC Camp
Eighteen boys from this county
were enrolled at the CGC camp at
Cove Creek on Monday. The camp,
which has accommodations for 185
boys," has dropped enrollment to
145. '
In the past there were only four
enrollments permitted during the
year in the CCC camps, but accord
ing to a new governmep, ruling

Concert To Feature Day
