Corporal Floyd Mehaffey, of Fort Jackson, spent last week here with his parents. CORP. MILFORD SCRUGGS has made a good record in the army since he enlisted in Janu ary, 1941. For a year he was at Camp Benning, Ga., ; and when promoted to corporal, was trans ferred to Camp Gordon, near Au gusta. He is also a son of Lee R. Scruggs and the late Mrs. Scruggs. Henry Tuttle Receives Promotion At Camp Polk Henry Tuttle, technician, Head quarters Company, 7th Armored Division, stationed at Camp Polk, has recently been promoted to ser geant. Sergeant Tuttle has been in the service for the past seven months. He was inducted at Fort Bragg and from there was trans ferred to Camp Lee, Va., and from the latter to Camp Polk, La. Hunter Blackwell Now At Corpus Christi Hunter Blackwell, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Blackwell, who is a veteran of World War I, is a chief machinist mate in the U. S. Navy, and is stationed at Corpus Christi, Texas. He will be joined this month by Mrs. Blackwell and their daughter, Susan and son. Hunter, the 3rd. Private Ray Swayngim, of Fort Benning, Ga., spent the week-end with his father, G. C. Swayngim, and his sister, Mrs. Robert Mc Elroy. . Sergeant Charles Burgess, of Fort Jackson, is spending this week here with relatives. Corporal Jack Smith, of Fort Jackson, is spending this week here with Mrs. Smith and his parents. Jarvis Teague filled his regular monthly appointment at the Fines Creek Baptist church Sunday. The attendance was good. The B. Y. P. U. meets each Sun day at 8 p. m. at the Fines Creek Baptist church. The Fines Creek highway is be ing put in excellent condition, the road and narrow curves are being widened. The state has trucks and hand crews assisted by W. P. A. It's hoped by midsummer the school zone roads will be in better con dition. , Mr, and Mrs. Dennis Rathbone, of Canton, were Sunday guests of the former's brother, Mr, and Mrs. Walter Rathbone. Jack Sparks, now serving in the navy, was on furlough last week visiting with his parents here, Mr. and Mrs. Zim Sparks. Roy Justice, who is in the U. S.
