Joseph Swayngim, now somewhere in the Pacific war zone. was recently shell shocked, accord ing1 to word received from the marine headquarters in Wasting ton, by his mother, Mrs. R. F. Swayngrun, of route two. Marine Swayngm joined the ma rines in September, 1941, and left the states in the spring of this of this year. He was a stu dent of the high school here. His father, : R. F. Swayngim, is now serving in the army, and Is stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. Mr. Swayngim was in the last war about two years, and spent a year in France. Cadet Thamos E. Blalock Starts Training In Texas Cadet Thomas E. Blalock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas L. Blalock, of Hazelwood, has begun his train ing as a bombardier cadet at the Army Air Force Bombardier school at Big Spring, Texas. Cadet Blalock graduated from the Waynesville high school in the class of 1936 and later attended Blanton's Business College in Ashe ville. He was a professionad base ball player. Upon the completion of the course, he will be rated as a bom bardier in the ary air forces and will take his place with the intrepid fighters known as "The most dan gerous men alive," the bombar dier...''. ' Thomas L. Howell Is Studying Aviation Mechanics In Texas Thomas L. Howell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Howell, of Waynesville, has begun an intensive course of studies in aviation mechanics at Amarillo Fild, Texas, one of the newest schools of the Army Air Forces Technical Training Com mand. - He will spend several months at the great mechanics school and upon graduation will be sent to one of Uncle Sam's air bases where he will serve as a member of a crew of ace mechanics who will keep our fighting airplanes in condition to assure early Allied victory.
