(One Day Nearer Victory) THURSDAY, MAY THE WAYNES VILLE MOUNTAINEER 13, Page 16 If -L Posts of Duty of Children Of Mrs. D. C. Campbell Four of the seven children of Mrs. D. Crockett Campbell and the late Mr. Campbell, of the Maggie section of this county, are in the service. Their present stations are as follows: Guy Campbell, chief electrical engineer, V. S. Navy, who has been in the service since last July, is now serving "somewhere'' in the North Atlantic. He is a veteran of World War Number 1, and at the time he volunteered was an electrical engineer located in New York City. Lt. Grace Plott Campbell, U. S. Nursing Corps, is now stationed in Jamaica, and has been in the service since December, 1940. Prior to her volunteering she was in Woodland Clinic, Woodland, Calif. Lt. Campbell was connected with the Haywood County Hospital for s-everal years. Auxiliary Nell Campbell, of the Woman's Army Auxiliary Corps, is now stationed at Shelby, Miss., where she is taking an officers' training course. Pfc. Fred Campbell, who has been in the service since March of this year, volunteered in Novem ber, 11)42, but was not called into active duty until several months later, is now stationed in Texar kana, Tex. Reclassifications Made During The Past Week Seven men were placed in class Plac.d in class 2-B(H) Harrv Phiilin Clay. William Kinley Reagan was put in class 3-A. Placed in class 3-A(H) were: was 'Carver, Koy Chester Ruff, William Mc-I Perry Smathtrs and George Wil liam Swanger. Plac-d in class 3-C(H) were: James Rufus Stiles. Nels Rapley Gentry and Claude Dillard. Placed in class 4-F were: Rob ert Thompson, James Rufus Gibbs, Fred Smith, Dewey DeWitt Harri- Love, Lewis Fair, John Henry Tucker, Jesse Scruggs, Jr., Charles Lee Pressley, John Harden Phillips, Christopher Columbus Ramseur, Vntinn Rav Geore-e Warren and i David Lawson Teague. Roy Wessley Gibson was placed in class 4-F(H). 1-A during the past wek by the Jostpn Layiaue inciiiiphun, i.iuyu local draft board, according to the Polacarp Shelton and Dewey Price, clerk of the board. Ben Colkitt, Jr., Receives Wings And Commission Ben Colkitt, Jr., U. S. Naval Air Corps, received his wings and was commissioned an ensign last Fri day at the Naval air base at Pen sacola, Fla. Ensign Colkitt is a graduate of Davidson College. Following his graduation last June he entered the service and took his pre-flight training at the d,;, gia. Talmadge Woodard Stationed At Camp Cooke Pfc. Talmadge L. Woodard, son of Rev. and Mrs. J. M. Woodard, of Hazelwood, has returned to Camp Cooke in California, after spend ing a 15-day furlough hen-. Pfc. Woodard hits been in the service since September. 1942, he was first stationed at Fort Bragg, i :hen Camp Hulen, Texas, and from there he w;is transferred to Camp Cooke. Young Woodard is a graduate of Waynesville Township high school, graduating in the class of 1040, He was Valedictorian of the class. Before entering the service he was employed by the Wilmington shipyard. Pfc Woodard has a brother in the service, Corporal Leonard Woodard, who is stationed at the Marine base in Key West. Albright Here On 7-Day Leave Seaman James F. Albright, sea- 1 man first class. U. S. Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Albright, is spending a seven-day leave here with his parents. Seaman Albright has recently completed his boot training at Bainbridge, Md. He volunteered in ti.e service and has been in since March. Dills Is Home On Furlough Private Alvin A. Dills, son Mrs. Jane Dills, is spending a several days furlough here with his mother. He is now stationed at Shaw Field, S. C. Pvt. Dills has been in the ser vice for the past seven months. He volunteered and reported for duty in the Air Corps at Shaw Field, where he has since been stationed. Prior to his volunteering for the service, Pvt. Dills was taking weld ing training at the North Caro lina Ship yards in Wilmington. Pvt. James R. Wyatt, Jr., Spends Furlough Here Private James R. Wyatt, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. James Wyatt, of Waynesville, route 2, recently spent several days here with his wife, Mrs. Hilda Moody Wyatt. Pvt. Wyatt has been in the ser vice since August 2, 1942. He was inducted at Fort Jackson and from there he was transferred to Kees ler Field, Miss. From the latter he was sent to Albuquerque, New Mex. and from there to his present post of duty at Boca Rayon Field, Fla. Pfc. Warren H. Putnam Now In California Private First Class Warren H Putnam, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Pntnam, of Cove Creek, is now stationed at Camp Beale, Califor nia. Pfc. Putnam has been in the service since September, 1942. He was inducted in the service at Fort Brag? and from there was trans ferred to Camp Wolters, Tex.
