(One Day Nearer Victory) THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 3, Page 4 THE WAYNES VILLE MOUNTAINEER Law Enforcement Officers West Of Asheville Coming Local Officers Will Be Hosts To Out-Of-Town Delegates Attending Meeting. SYLVA Special to Mountaineer The FBI Law Enforcement Con ference will be held at the Ritz Theatre here on March first, start ing at two o'clock, it was announc ed yesterday by Ed Schiedt, spec ial agent in charge of the Charlotte office. Details of the conference were being completed this week by Idus J. Lynn, resident agent for this district. All law enforcement officers west of Asheville will be expected to attend, Mr. Lynn said. An at tendance of at least 75 are expect ed for the conference, which is the first ever held in Sylva. Local law enforcement officers will act as host to the out-of-town officers, Mr. Lynn said. Those here working with the FBI in making all arrangements include, Griffin Middleton and Don Davis, of the police department, Sheriff Leon ard Holden and Highway Patrol man Jess Sullins. Judge Felix E. Alley, native of Jackson, will make the address of welcome. The program will be in charge of Mr. Schiedt, with de tails to be announced later. Mr. Lynn pointed out that all officers and auxiliary police will be invited to attend the conference although it is not open to the pub lic, due to some of the subjects discussed. DEATHS Mrs. Elsie Ammons Green Funeral services were held Mon day morning at 11 o'clock at the West Canton Baptist church for Mrs. Elsie Ammons Green, 67, wife of Lonnie L. Green, of Canton, who died at the home of her son. Garland N. Grren, in the Phillips ville section of Canton at 8:20 p. m., baturday. Rov. Cardnas Green pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Judson cemetery near Bryson City. Mrs. Green was a native of Blue Ridge, Ga., and has b en residing in this area for the past several years. Surviving are her husband; one son, Garland L. Green; one dau ghter, Mrs. Eu!a Mattherson, of Canton; three brothers, Grover W. Ammons, of Canton, Sam Amm ins, of Andrews, and Nathan Ammons, of S. C; one sister, Mrs. Webb Crisp, of Whitticr, and three grand children. Garrett Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangem:nts. Henry Dock Woods Funeral services were conducted at the Rocky Branch Baptist church on Alhn's Creek Friday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock for Henry Dock Woods, 51, who died at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. Lando Stevens officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Woods was a native of Jack son county, son of Mr. and Mrs. Janus Woods, of Allen's Creek. Surviving are his parents; his wife, the former Miss Rettia Knight; one son, Pvt. Horace Woods, who after serving for one year overseas has been discharged from the army, two daughters, Mrs. Hannah Ridley and Mrs. Cling Bumgarner, both of Lyman, Wash., and three grandchildren. Garrett Funeral Home was in charge of the service. Real Cure A crowd had gathered round a man who was selling tins of cor: cure. After a long speech on its qualities he asked if anyone in the crowd had bought a tin before. A voice from the back of the crowd shouted, "Yes. I got a box last week!"
