Allison Funeral services were held Sun day afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Verlin Evans, Way nesville R. F. D. No. 2, for William E. Allison, 72, Haywood county farmer who died at 11:30 Friday morning after a short illness, at the home of his sister. Burial was In the Evans cemetery. Mr. Allison is the son of the late Joshua and Martha Allison of Haywood county. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Huffman and Mrs. Bes sie Ingle, both of Charlotte; one brother, Charles Allison, of Way nesville, R. F. D. No. 2; five sis ters, Mrs. M. F. Howell, Mrs. Verlin Evans, Mrs. Jessie Caldwell, and Mrs. L. V. Hall, all of Way fiesville, R. F. D. No. 2, and Mrs. Ervin Reno, of Canton. Massie Funeral home was in charge of the arrangements. Methodists Here Observing Week Of Dedication The Methodist congregations of Hazelwood, Lake Junaluska and Waynesville are holding joint ser vices Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings of this week in observance of the Week of Dedi cation which is a movement throughout the Methodist church. The services are being held each evening in the Waynesville church at 8:00 o'clock. The speaker for the Wednesday evening service was Judge Felix Alley. He used as his subject, "The Church at its Best in a World at its Worst." Rev. Miles McLean, pas tor at Lake Junalska, will be the speaker for Thursday evening. His subject will be, "The Secret Wea pons of a Christian " On Friday evening Rev. D. H. Dennis, pastor of the Hazelwood Methodist church, will speak on the subject, "The I Church and Its Source of Power." Features oi special music will j be provided each evening. The j Young People's Choir of the Way- 1 nesville church will be used Thurs- I day evening and the Junaluska : choir will sing Friday evening. j The Week of Dedication will be; brought to a close on Sunday, Red Cross Contest B?in? Sponsored By St. John's School A contest is being sponsored by St. John's school for pupils and staff members participating in the 1944 Red Cross War Fund Cam paign. The contest opened Feb- March 5, with a dedication service in ev ry local congregation. ruary 29 and will end midnight, March 31. A J25.00 war. bond will be award ed as first prize by the school to the one making the largest contri bution. The second and third prizes will be $10 00 and 5.00 in war stamps respectively. Adjutant Cecil Brown, of the Mountain Di vision of the Salvation Army as sisted by Rev. Marshall Ramey, pastor of the West Canton Baptist church officiated. Burial was in the Redmond cemetery. Mr. Rathboru was a native of the Fines Creek section of the conn, ty. He was the son of Mrs. Carrie Hill Rathbone and the late W. P. Rathbone. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Maude G. Rathbone, of Canton, four sons, Claud?, Paul, Cecil and Julius, all of Canton, two daugh ters, Louise and Mary Jeanette, both of Canton; three brothers.
