Mrs. Patterson was before her marriage, Miss Virginia Owings Kellett, daughter of Mrs. John Russell Kellett, of Waynesville and the late Mr. Kellett, of Fountain Inn. The wedding was an outstanding social event of the month. Marriage Of Former Waynesville Girl To West Virginian Announced Miss Avis Nell Hanson Becomes Bride Of Tech. Sgt. W. I. Hulsey Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Hanson, of Lancaster, S. C-, formerly of Hay wood county and Wilmington, have announced the marriage of their daughter, Misa Avis Nell Hanson to Tech Sergeant W. I. Hulsey, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Hulsey, of Bethune, N. C. The wedding was solemnised on Saturday evening, May 20, in Lan caster, S. C. The bride is a graduate of the Lancaster high school. The bridegroom is a graduate of the Mt. Airy high school and spent five years in the Panama Canal Zone and South America in the air service. He is now station ed at Miami Beach, Fla. Mrs. Hulsey will join her husband at his Florida post in the near future. Mrs. M. G. Stamey Guest Teacher Of Marietta Wav Bible Class Mrs. M. G. Stamey was guest teacher of the Marietta Way Bible Class of the First Methodist church on last Sunday. She used the sub ject of the International Sunday school lesson, "What the Church Is Fighting For." She stressed the part which the women must play in establishing a new world order. She mentioned the new recrea tional program of this community as a step in the right direction and a victory for the forces of good. Brown, president of the local Auxiliary of the Waynes ville post of the American Legion, attended the State Convention of the Legion and Auxiliary which has been in session in Asheville on Monday and Tuesday of this week. J. Colvin Brown, Jr., student at Duke University, was initiated in to the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity during the week. He is expected home in the near future and plan to remain here until he enters the service. Miss Jerry McKinley, who has been a student at the University of Tennessee for the past year, has arrived to sperid the summer months in Haielwood with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. G. McKinley. MRS. Rtv. Karl M. Scott, pastor of the First Methodist church of Rivesville, West Va., and father of the groom, pronounced the mar riage vows, which were spoken be fore an improvised alter arranged in the living room. Tall floor bas kets holding arrangements of calla lilies and white gladioli. On either side wer(. floor candelabra of wrought iron bearing tapers, which were lighted prior to the entrance of the bridal party by Fred Fel ton of Parsons, West Va. A program of nuptial music was given "Ave Maria," by Schubert, "I Love You Truly," by Carrie Jacobs Bond, "Because," By D'Hardelot, and "For You Alone," By Henry E. Greehl, was played as the maid of honor entered. The bridal chorus from "Lohengrin" was used as the processional for the bride. The bride, who was given in mar riage by her father, wore a gown of ivory Dutchess satin made with a basque waist and a round neckline with a mousseline yoke embroider ed in seed pearls. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses, gardenias and lilies of the valley. Miss Gladys Walker, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.
