Boone on her eighty-sixth birthday an niversary. She wag assisted in re ceiving by her daughters, Miss Emily Siler and Miss Betsy Siler, and her sister, Mrs. Hugh Massie and her daughter, Miss Mary Anne Massie. The guests were seated at one long table, centered by a Thanks giving arrangement, with the motif carried out in all the appointments. Each guest was given a white satin lace trimmed sachet as a favor. Mrs. Boone, who is greatly be loved by a large circle of friends is a native of Virginia, but has re sided here since a young girl. C, have announced the engagement of their daughter. Miss Hettie Mae, to Clarence Shelton, seaman second class, TJ. S. Navy, formerly of Waynesville. The bride elect is a member of the senior class of the Grter high school. Seaman Shelton is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Spurgeon S. Shelton of Waynesville. He recently Bpent a leave here with his parents, having returned from combat at Guam, Saipan arid Tinian. He entered the service on January 3, 1943 and has had six months sea duty. He has been assigned to the South Pacific area since he reported to the West coast after his leave here Mr and Mrs. McClure Will Observe 25th Wedding Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. John Monteville McClure of the Iron Duff section, will celebrate their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary on Saturday evening, November 25, at the home of the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. White. A number of friends have been invited to the open house to be held by the bride and bridegroom of twenty-five years ag. They will be assisted in receiv ing by Mrs. Raymond Caldwell, Mr. and Mrs. White, and serving will be Miss Josephine Crawford, Miss Roberta Dotson, Miss Anne Caldwell, Mrs. Grady Davis, Mrs. Clinton McElroy and Mrs. J. Ltand Mrs. Paul McElroy Visiting Parents Lt. and Mrs. Paul McElroy have arrived to spend ten days here with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Colkitt, and the former's mother, Mrs. Paul McElroy. Mrs. McElroy was before her marriage Miss Doris Colkitt. Lt. McElroy who is serving in the Air Forces, was assigned to duty at Selman Field, Monroe, La., after he spent a several weeks leave at the Re distribution center in Miami Beach. Lt. McElroy has a distinguished overseas record and completed his required missions over enemy ter ritory. ' Lois Massie Joins Kappa Chi, Modern Dance Sorority Miss Lois Massie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Massie, has re cently been initiated in the Kappa Chi, modern dance sorority. Miss Massie is a member of the senior class at the University of Tennes see, where she is majoring in phy sical education. Mrs. H. ('. Fermison return oA home Sunday after spending sev eral days in Washington, D. C, with her daughter, Miss Blanche Ferguson, and her granddaughter, Miss Doris Grahl. Walter Knox, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Knox, who resided her for many years, spent a couple of days here during the week as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Blackwell. Mr. Knox is passenger service agent of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad, with headquar ters in Richmond, Va. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Campbell and son, Jerry, of Newport News, Va., have returned noma after visiting the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. .T Campbell of Waynesville. Miss Dons Grahl will leave Sat urday for Washington, D. C, where she has a position with the War Depatment, after being called home on account of the death of her grandfather, W. A. Grahl. Mrs. Carroll Bell has returned from a visit to friends in New York, Washington, Norfolk and Virginia Beach. She was the guest )f Lt. and Mrs. William Medford it the latter place. Mrs. Mary Dodd, the former Miss Mary Haynes, and small son left Thursday to join her husband in Monterez, Calif., where he is now stationed. ' Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Living stone have returned from Reids ville, where they attended the mar riage of Mrs. Livingstone's son, Wayne Leon Hyatt to Miss Mary Garrett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Garrett of Reidsville. Mr and Mrs. Hyatt will spend several days in Waynesville and will then take up their residence at Fontana Dam where Mr. Hyatt has been employ ed for a year. Pvt. pick Bradley has returned to camp after spending the week end with his family at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Bradley on Dell wood Road. He had as his guest, Pvt. Lacy Ashcroft of Columbus, Ohio, and Pvt. Robert Hebert of Boston, Mass. They ar stationed at Camp Croft, S. C.
