Pfc. James R. Grant Helps Down Planes An Eighth Air Force Fighter Station, England. Private First Class James R. Grant, of Rt. 2, Waynesville, is one of the "Keep 'em Flying'', personnel commend ed by Lieutenant General James H. Doolittle for teamwork with the 357th Fighter Group pilots who recently broke Eighth Air Force fighter records by downing 56 1-2 Luftwaffe interceptors and exploding one nt the ground in a single day near Berlin. A medical technician, Pfc. Grant works at this P-51 Mustang station sick quarters. A graduate of the Waynesville high school, Pfc. Grant entered service, April 1, 1942. He is the son of Mrs. Grace Grant, Waynesville. The Crawford Funeral Home at Clyde, is now open for service, Ralph M. Crawford, a ficensed embalmer for the past 24 years, will live at the home. Mr, Craw ford has had experience with fune ral work in Raleigh, Wilmington, Del., Youngstown, Ohio and Ashe ville. . v ...
