FLIES TO SEE MOTHER, 90 Mrs. Elizabeth Black Mitchell, sixty-two, of Scissors Branch, Wheatland, Wyo., left La Guardia Field for Hurn, England, this week on a belated birthday trip to her mother, Mrs. Elspet Bruce, of Aberdeen, Scotland, who was nine ty last Sunday. Laden with candy, groceries, rice and prunes and a gift package she would not talk about, she was one of fourteen other passengers aboard the Pan American clipper. She flew from Cheyenne, Wyo., on her first place flight and her first trip home since 1937. She'll return Feb. 27. which HH ratings can be applied? A. By a cumulative record of approved applications, balanced against materials production reports. Q. Who will get the preference ratings, since it is estimated that tbetween two and three million veterans and their families will need housing in 1946, but only some 400,000 to 500,000 dwelling units will result, in 1946, from the reconversion housing program? A. Because of the standards set for the approval of applications, the availability of labor, the effects of adverse weather on buildings, and unavoidable delays in arrang ing for land and financing and other preparations for building, it is hoped that the actual number of applications received will not exceed the availability of mate rials. But, if applications prove to be excessive, it may be necessary to establish a quota basis for the granting of ratings by areas and by time periods, in relationship to the availability of materials. (IntetnotJonoI) Veteran May Work On Farm Taking Training An extensive training program has recently been inaugurated through the cooperation of the State Board of Vocational Educa tion and Veterans Administration, which will give agricultural train ing, according to Tal H. Safford, district supervisor for agricultural education and J. C. Brown, state senior training officer for the Vet erans Administration. Under the ruling a veteran may train on an employer farm or his own farm, or a farm in which ho has some financial interest. This is a cooperative plan whereby the veteran is taking training while on a job. with additional institutional training, through the aid of the ag ricultural vocalional teacher in that area. This does not mean that the vet eran will have to attend classes, but that he will be tfiven individ ual aid by the teacher. He will also be given some financial help while getting practical farm train ing while working on a farm in the same manner he would if at tending college. Any veteran wishing to take ad vantage of this training offered in agriculture may get in touch with the vocational teacher in their local high school or other educa tional agencies in the district, and they may obtain full information, it was learned from Mr. Brown. Sgt. Victor Nobeck Gets His Discharge Sgt. Victor Nobeck received his discharge from the army Friday night, after being in service more than three years. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. V. C. Nobeck, of Hazel Street. Prior to his discharge he was stationed at Orlo Vista, Fla., and was connected with a radar ex periment station there. Before entering service, Sgt. Nobeck was employed at the Day ton Rubber Manufacturing Com pany, having been there from the first day the plant opened. MAY CHANGE THE FLOW OF TENNYSON'S BROOK LONDON Alfred Lord Tenny son's belief that the River Lynn would flow on eternally unchanged did not anticipate the plans of water engineers. The Spilsby rural council in Lincolnshire is considering plans to remedy a water shortage by pumping and diverting the stream at Partney Mill the spot which inspired the poet laureate to write ninety-two years ago in "The Brook": "I chatter, chatter, as I flow "To join the brimming river; "For men may come and men may go, "But I go on forever."
