Mrs. Brading gave a detailed day by day account of the meeting. Mrs. Ruby Bryson, Haywood county public health nurse brought greetings from the Nurses Asso ciation and spoke of health work. Others attending the meeting from here were: Mrs. Charles Hay, president of the club, .Mrs. H. N. Barber, Mrs. James W. Killian, Mrs. Stella Hall, Mrs. Jimmy Boyd, Mrs. John N. Slioolbred, Mis. R. II. Blackwell, Mrs. John M. Queen, Mrs. Cornelia Nixon, Mrs. C. F. Kirkpatrick, Mrs. Frank Kin sey, Jr., Mrs. J. H. Hipps, and Miss Margaret Johnston. Mrs. T. A. Case, of Murphy, was elected to serve the district as di rector for the coming two years. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smathers, Jr., and three small daughters have returned to their home in Miami, after spending the summer here. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Howell, of Providence, R. The youthful hostess was assisted by her mother, and Mrs. Finest Herman, director and her assistant, Mrs. Olive Green in receiving her guests. Mr. Davis was accompanied by his two sis ters, Mrs. Daisy Handle, of Kandall, Wash , and Mrs. J M. Dunn, of Knoxville. Leltoy Davis came up and drove them hack. Mr. and Mis. W. Curtis Huss had as their guests over the week end, Mrs. Howard Bennelt and Miss Myrtle Bennelt, of I lendersonvil le, and Mrs. Maltha Surrells, of Jacksonville. Mrs. Sydia Hay and daughter Miss Flizabe.Ui Hay, and Mrs. Tom SI ringlield and daughter, Mrs. Carl Hill, have returned from a slay of several davs in Atlanta. East Waynesville PTA To Meet Tonight The Fast Waynesville Parent Teacher Association will meet to night in the school auditorium at 7:30 o'clock, with Mrs. Albert Abel, president, presiding. All members are urged to be present. Following Hie business session there will be a social hour. The Fast Waynesville l'TA meets every last Friday in the month the year around, but the meeting on Tuesday will be the first of the school year. Mrs Bradley Haviland, who has spent the summer here left Sunday for Los Angeles, Calif , and ;lans to spend the winter there. Mrs. Frank Smathers and young granddaughter, Lura Myers, will leave Sunday by plane for Long Beach, Calif., where the latter will join her parents, Mr. and Mrs Phillip D. Myers. Mrs. Bonner Kay has returned from Greensboro, where she has been visiting Dr. and Mrs. S. 1'. Gay. Mother And Daughter Honor Bride By Party Miss Carolyn Curtis, bride-elect, whose marriage to Porter H. Frady is scheduled to take place some time in October, was the honor guest of a bridge party on Thurs day evening Hostesses of the af fair were Mrs O. H. Martin and her daughter. Mrs. William Fowler, of Charlotte. Tin rooms were decorated in white and ellow flowers with the bridal mot if noted in the party appointment- and in the bride's table during the serving hour. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. Zeb Curtis for the lop score and to Miss Flialulh Ferguson for the low score. Miss Curtis was pre sented a niece of her silver by Mrs. Martin and a piece of her chosen pattern of china by Mrs. Fowler. Those invited to play bridge were: Miss Curtis and her mother. Music Club To Hold First Meet Friday Night The initial meeting of the Waynesville Music club will be neld at The Lodge on Friday evening, with Mrs. John Taylor and Mrs. William Ira Lee as joint hostesses. Mrs. Taylor, newly elected presi dent, will preside. i Mrs. Lee, program chairman for the year, will give an outline of the programs and course of study during the evening. Two members of the loeal inusie club are scheduled to take part on the musical program at the annual meeting of the district to be held in Bryson City on Oct. 19, at 10:30. to which the president is urging all members to attend. Mrs. G rover Wilkes and Mrs. Ellis of Sylva. both members of the Waynesville club will give two duo-piano num bers. The Junior Music club, which is sponsored by the Senior club will hold their first meeting of the year on the first Friday of the year, with the counselor to be announced later. PVT. CHARLES DOME WEST VISITS PARENTS HERE Pvt. Charles Dowe West spent a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer II. West, ol Waynesville, Route 1, last week. Pvt. West entered the service as a volunteer in January and took his basic training at Camp Lee, Va. He is now stationed at Camp Atterbury, Ind. Before entering the service he was emloycd by C. E. Hay's Sons Miss Hilda Way, who is teachin , at Kannapoli.s, spent the week-end here with her parents.
