Hev. I,. (5. Flliott, pastor of the First Baptist church, will pro nounce the vows. A musical pro gram will he rendered by Mrs V. I.. Matney, church organist, and Charles Isley, vocalist. Miss Curtis will have as lier matron of honor, Mrs. Bruce Pope, of Charlotte. Serving as brides maids will be Miss Joanne Morris, niece of the bridegroom-elect, and Miss Elizabeth Ferguson of Waynes villc and Canton. Blankenship and the late Mr. Blankenship be came the bride of William Aiken Rodgers, son of Mr. and Mrs. T Gilbert Reeves on Monday morn ing, October 14th, at 10.30 o'clock. The mother of the bride and the mother of the bridegroom both wore navy blue tailored suits with corsages ot talisman roses. The bridegroom is a veteran of World War H, having served in the V. S. Navy. He entered the service in December, 1 942 , and took his boot training at Hainbridge and from there was transferred to Rich mond, Va., where he attended a Diesel school. He served for three years in the Pacific theater and was discharged in February of this year with the rating of MOM, first class. Following the marriage the couple left for a wedding trip after which they will be at home at 1114 Richland street. Germany Five persons died, one of a heart attack, during a noon gun battle today between police and black marketeers in the crowd ed market only a mile from (Jen. Joseph T, McNarney's headquar ters. Two policemen, a bystander and one black marketeer were shot and killed in the fray. Another by stander dropopd dead of a heart attack and a third policeman was wounded. The black marketeer shot and killed himself when police closed in on him. The dead gunman, believed by police to be a Pole, was found ta be carrying three pistols, half a doz en sets of identity papers, twenty six rings, five watches and other pieces of jewelry. A companion, who was captured, said the pair had come from the British zone to trade jewelry for clothing.
