PAGE FOUR (First Setiior.T TITE WAYNESVILLE MOUNTAINEER Pryor-Queen Marriage Took Place At Home of Bride's Parents Christmas Announcement has been made of the marriage of Miss Margaret Lois Pryor, daughter of Kir. and Mrs. William Allison Pryor of Bear Wallow to James Richard Queen, of Asheville and Waynesville. son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam L. Queen of Waynesville. which took place o-i Christmas Day at the home of the bride's parents.. Only members of the immediate families were pres ent for the ceremony. The Rev. J. E. B. Houscr. pastor of the Dell wood Methodist Church performed the ceremony. The vows were spoken before an improvised altar banked with evergreens. The home was decorated thro'.mhutit with evergreens and Chri.- ir.r.. flowers. A program of nuptial music presented by Mrs. Woody Pryor. sister-in-law of the bride at the piano. Still as The Night.' I love You Truly". Always." and "Because" were played prior to the taking of the vows. The tradi tional wedding marches were pla -ed for the processional and l no u cessional with Schubert's ' A- Maria" softly played durini; tin ceremony. The bride, who was ien in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white jersey, embroidered with gold thread. Her headdress was a crown of gold sequins. Slit carried a white Bible to which was attached a purple throated orchid showered with stephanotis. Miss Jo Edna Pryor. sister of the bride, was maid of honor and Mrs Clifford Ernest Brown. Jr.. sister of the bridegroom was matron of honor. Both wore dresses of white crepe, fashioned on the same pat tern and wore headdresses of gold sequins, similar to the bride's. They carried bouquets of white carna tions tied with red ribbons. Sam L. Queen. Jr., brother of the bridegroom, was best man Ushers were Capt. David Pryor V. S. Army, and Woody Pryu; . brothers of the bride. Following the ceremony , a re ception was held by the bride's parents. The bridal table was cov ered with a lace cloth and centered with a three tiered wedding cake. Snyder-Haynes Marriage Is Announced Mr. and Mrs Jerry W. Mrs. Rufus L. Allen. Chi istmas ureens and Mowers lend a decorative nolo to the living and dinini; rooms. Mrs. Allen presided over the hiisiness session at which time mallets of local interest were' discifssed. The need for rural policemen was discussed and a mojion made to ask the otlicials to take the prob lem up and see if this could not he remedied during the coming year. The question of proper signs for school ones was also discussed and it was decided to ask that these he marked lor the benefit of the motorists and the school children. The member also voted to give their support to the town officials in their effort to enforce all traffic lavvs, which it was brought out have been abused in part. Mrs. Leo Martel gave a report of the activities of the Youth club and told of the aid given the group h the Civic- League. Mrs R. R Campbell, chairman of the Christmas cheer fund for the needy in the community gave a report of v hat the club had done this year. Following the meeting the hos tess invited the members into the dining room where coffee and Christmas cakes and candies were sei ved from an attractively arrang ed table hearing a centerpiece of red flowers and Christmas greens, with other seasonal appointments. Lt. M3 J. H. Way. III. returned yesterday to his post at Fort Bliss. F.I Paso. Tex., after spending the holidays here with his wife at the home of his parents. Mr. and Mrs. J II. Way. MRS. MAX O. ROGERS, who before her marriage in Clayton, Ga., on SaUirdav. October the 5lh. was the former Miss Evelyn Moody, (hiimhler of Mr. and Mrs. Z. V. Moody, of Waynesville. Families Enjoy Annual Holiday Party At Local Armory More than (JOO employees and members of their families enjoyed Hie Christinas party given by Day ton Rubber company at the Armor-, last Tuesday night. The Armory was gaily decorated with colored lights overhead. Christmas trees around the side, a large Welcome sign over the stage, and table-fulls of toys and refreshments. Clyde Fisher was master of ceremonies, and started the entertainment with group sing ing, after which a young Knoxville veieran, .lack McKeenan. took over with a magic performance. This was climaxed by the magi cian producing a live Santa Claus on the screen, and Santa then start -i ed plavmg w ith the children and numerous toys were given the ; youngsters present at the party. 1 A. iter they had feasted on pop corn balls, apples and soft drinks, the children were taken home and the adults began square dancing to music played by the Carpenter ' String Band, which lasted until j 11:30 o'clock. i A telegram from A. Greater things are in store '.for the Waynesville plant, he said, as soon as material and equip ment are available, and he con- eluded by wishing all the tradition ; al season's greeting. This was generally considered one of the most enjoyable of any oi I ia ton's annual Yule parties. Hospital Employes Have Christmas Tree The annual Christmas tree and party of the Haywood county Hos pital personnel was held at the nurses Home on Monday evening of last week. The living room was arrnaged in quantities of Christ mas greens and other seasonal decorations. At eighti o'clock presents were distributed from the lighted tree which bore dozens of lights and yards of tinsel. Following the dis tribution of gifts, games were en joyed, and sandwiches, cakes, can dies and nuts were served. Around thirty five members of the hospital staff were present for the affair. Moody-Rogers Marriage Is Announced Mr. and Mrs. Z. V. Moody, of Waynsville have announced the marriage of their granddaughter, Miss Evelyn Moody to Max O. Rogers, son of Mr. and 1VIrs. T. H. Rogers, of Clyde. The vows were solemnized in Clayton, Ga. on Oc tober the 5th. 1 Mrs. Rogers is a graduate of the Vaynesville Township high school a.id has held a position with the A. C. Lawrence Leather Company for the past three years. Mr. Rogers is a veteran of World Wiir II. having served for five years in the army, three of which were sient in duty overseas. After his discharge from the service he en tered business with is brother, and together tbey operate the Rogers Home Appliance Company. The couple plan to make their home in Clyde. Howard Hyatts Honor Guests Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hyatt were hosts of an informal at home on Saturday afternoon from 4:30 to 7:30 o'clock at their residence on the Balsam road in compliment to their guests. Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Smith, of Baltimore. The residence was arranged in holly and Christ mas greens. The punch table was centered with an arrangement of red tapers and holly. Assisting in serving was Mrs. Richard M. Howell, of Wash ington, D. C., sister of Mrs. Hyatt, who is spending a few days here. Florrie Patrick Entertain Scout Troop With Party The Intermediate Girl Scout troop, of which Mrs. Harry Lee Liner, Jr., is leader, entertained with a Christmas party on Monday evening, with Florrie Patrick hos tess of the affair, at the home of hrr parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Patrick. There was a short business ses sion.at the opening of the evening followed hy the singing of Christ mas carols, with Florrie Patrick serving as accompanist. A Scram bled Christmas word contest was held with Joan Ratcliff and Sally Stovall coming out as the winners, both receiving prizes. The hostess served hot choco late and sandwiches and each guest was presented with favors of gum and popcorn balls done up in Christmas trimmings. Members of the troop include in addition to the hostess, Florrie Patrick, Charlotte Brown, Louise McBridc. Joan Ratcliff, Sally Sto vall, Aliene Parham, Linda Welch, Linda Sloan, Marcia Lance, Betty Sue Hill and Elizabeth Walker. Betsy Lane Quinlan Red Cross Worker Here Last Week Miss Betsy Lane Quinlan, recre ational Red Cross worker who en tered the service at the beginning of the war and i now stationed, at the Naval hospital at Quantico, Va. 1 spent several days here last week with her mother, Mrs. Charles E. Quinlan at Prospect Hill. Miss Quinlan has an extensive record with the American Red Cross, having served in two thea ters during the war. She spent a year with the Red Cross at a hos pital in Iceland and following a brief tour of duty in the state was sent to the Pacific theater where she also served one year. Miss Quinlan is the sister of Miss Mary Quinlan, also' with the American Red Cross, who is eur rently serving ' in Germany in a supervisory position dealing with misplaced persons.
