Manner Mrs, Maud Jones Dining Iloom Manager . r. . . i n, m i . i i,, md I Ratcliffe Cove Society To Meet The regular monthly meeting of the Woman's Missionary Society of the Ratcliffe Cove Baptist Church will meet at the church on Wednes day, May 7th, at 2:30. All members of the organization are urged to attend, and visitors are invited. Announced Mrs. Jimmie Boyd, Mrs. W. F. Swift, and Mrs. Noble Garrett. Mrs. Davis, district president, announced that the meeting would be held at the First Methodist church here and that the luncheon at noon would be served by the local chapter of the Eastern Star. The members decided to join with the local post of the Ameri can Legion in their observance of National Memorial Day on May 30. Mrs. Queen , president, an nounced that plans had been com pleted for the chapter to prepare and serve the annual banquet of the Chamber of Commerce, which "ill lie held at the Ilazelwood caf eteria on May 23. The table was covered with a hand-made lace cloth and centered with a low bowl of white and red flowers, carrying out the colors of the organization. Mrs T. L. Bram lette presided over the tea table. Special guests of the afternoon were: Mrs. VV. F. McCrary, mother of Mrs. A C Green, sister of the hostess, both of Crabtree; Mrs. W. H. Curtis and Mrs. Paul Townsend. Smith, of Hazel wood, has announced the marriage of her daughter, Miss Flora May Smith of Hazel wood and Washing ton D. C, to Anthony John D' An gelo, of Plainfield, N. J. The mar riage took place July 20, 1946. Mrs. D'Angelo is a graduate of the Waynesville township high school and also attended the Bob Jones college, Cleveland, Tenn. At the time of her marriage she held a position with the Veterans Ad ministration in Washington, D. C. Mr. D'Angelo is the son of Phil lip D'Angelo of Plainfield, N. J., and is a veteran of World War II, having served for two years in the United States Navy, one year of; which was spent on duly in the Pacific theater. : For the present Mr. and Mrs.' D'Angelo are making their home in Ilazelwood , Mrs. Glenn Boyd Hostess Of Jonathan Club Mrs. Glenn Boyd was hostess of the Mav meeting of the Jonathan Creek Home Demonstration club on Friday afternoon Willi Mrs. W. II. Nelson, president presiding. The monthly demonstration on "Understanding our families" was given by Miss Mary Margaret Smith, home agent, assisted by Mrs. : (). C Newell. Various project leaders told of their work and the progress being, made in their departments, as fol lows: Foods. Mrs. Fred Allison: Gar dens. Mrs C. (). Newell; Poultry, Mrs. F. K. Newell, who reported having read "Mistress of the White House", which she briefly reviewed, and Mrs. Medford Leatherwood, who gave a report on ' l'avillion of Women" by Buck. Turner left Sun-1 day to attend the North Carolina1: Dental Society convention which f is being held at Pinehurst. C, the former Miss Mary Giddens Mimi Gorsline, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jefferson Reeves of Waynesville. A graduate of the Waynes ville Township high school, Mrs. Coin is at present a member of the sophomore class at the University of Tampa. Mr. Coin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Coin of Waynesville, is a veteran of World War II, having received his discharge the last of March from the United States Navy with the rating of Coxswain. He volunteered in the service while he was a senior in the local high school and was sent to the Pacific theater after training, where he was on duty for three years. Mr. and Mrs. Coin are at present residing with Dr. and Mrs. Sheldon Stringer, of Tampa, uncle and aunt of the bride. Mr. Coin holds a position in Tampa and Mrs. Coin will continue her studies at the University of Tampa. Mrs. H. Massie Gives Luncheon For Bride-Elect Mrs. Hugh Massie was hostess of a bridge luncheon on Saturday noon in compliment to Miss Hilda Way, bride-eiect whose marriage will take place the first week in June. The living and sun rooms were arrnaged in bowls of mixed Spring flowers, while the dining room bore the bridal decorative note, with a special arrangement of flowers on the bride's table. Other appoint ments also bore the bridal motif. Following the serving of lunch eon contract was played, with prizes being presented to the winners of the top, second high and low score winners. Miss Way was also pre sented with a gift, some of her chosen patrn of silver. The guest list included Miss Way, her mother, Mrs. J. 11. Way, Jr., Mrs. Kimball Barber, Mrs. Thomas L. Campbell, Jr., Mrs. Carleton E. Weatherby, Mrs. Har old Massie, Mrs. David Hyatt and her guests, Mrs. Herbert I.. Buch anan, Mrs. Robert Anton, Mrs. Charles D. Ketner, Mrs. William Ray, Mrs. Howard Hyatt. Mrs. T. Lenoir Gwyn, Mrs. Sam II. Bush nell, Jr., and Mrs. John Allen, of Burlington, Vt. Henry Foy, student at Mars Hill College, spent the week end here with his mother, Mrs Lucile Foy. Jack Edwards, student at Mars Hill College, spent the week end here with his family. Mrs. Grady Moody Hostess May Met Dellwood Club Mrs. Grady Moody was hostess of the May meeting of the Dell wood Home Demonstration club at their regular meeting which was held on Thursday.
