scheduled to be tried at the May
term of Jackson county superior
court which convened in the
courthouse at Sylva yesterday
morning.

Three Arrested On Auto
Theft Charges In County
Roy Franklin, 19, of Canton and
ames R. Goodson, 19, of Bethel,
were arrested Sunday night by the

magistrate's hearing yesterday pled
guilty to the theft Sunday of two
automobiles.

Jointly Sponsor Clean
Up Week
May 26 through May 31 has been
designated as Clean Up, Paint Up
Week in Waynesville and Hazel
wood by officials of the two towns,
following the annual custom each
spring.
Citizens are urged to gather all
the trash that has accumulated
about their business places or resi
dence, and place it in containers
for town employees to haul away.
Special trips will be made in ad-

dition to the regular runs in order
to gather all the trash (luring Clean
Up Week.
Those who wish a special trip
to their place by the trucks are in
vited to call the town halls in
Waynesville number 153, and in
Hazelwood number 110-W.
Business places are urged to
, clean out basements of all excess
papers, cratM -and waste matter -
, that might become fire hazards.

trash is placed in cans or other
type containers in order to be load

Hold Poppy
Sale This Week
The annual sale of poppies li.v
the American Legion Auxiliary '
will be held on Friday and Satur
day ol this week, according to Mrs
J. Colvin Brown, who is serving as
chairman of the sale.
The poppies will be sold in the
industrial plants on Friday and on
the streets and in the stores of the i
area on Saturday, according to
Mrs. Brown.
Headquarters will he maintained
at Henderson's corner on Main
Street. All those who are assisting
in the morning sales are asked to
assemble at Henderson's at 9:45 to
get their poppies and instructions
for the sale Those who will work
in the afternoon are asked to meet

The reserve champion was a

! vis Allison of Waynesville and sold
; at the show for 46 cents a pound.
The feeders were well pleased
with their purchases from Haywood
and expect to buy their calves
again from this county in the fall,
according to Mr. Gwyn.
