' X-RAYS FOUND HELPFUL r IN TREATING BOILS ' CIIICAGO-(UP) i- X-rays have been enlisted in medical science's war against boils and carbuncles. Dr. Frederick W. O'Brien cited the cases of 1301 persona hospitalized with severe carbuncles. Sixty of them, who received X-ray treatment only, were freed of pain three to nine hours after the first treatment. They received an average of three treatments. i1 W i' To Publish List Of All Expenditures I Propose to publish monthly, a complete audited list of all expenditure vouchers is sued the prior month by the county. Thus show the voucher number, to whom paid, for what purpose and the amount. i i This is your money, "Mr. and Mrs. Tax payer" and you are entitled to Know how and where your every tax dollar is spent.' ' To Study Needs For Poor And Needy Much has already been said about the County Home and its management. I am re luctant to make any hasty , decision which would dispose of such -,a splendid physical . plant as Haywood's present home. I wish first to study some of the plans and methods used by other . counties where'' the county home has been abolished. I want to investi gate the results of such action, and see if the plan would be justified in Haywood. It should be further developed in order to give additional recreation, social and spir itual opportunities to all our peoples. I favor continuance of the programs to create a deep er community spirit of fellowship among every citizen of this county. . And just as the Agricultural program has gone forward, I keenly feel that similar de velopment of our Industrial and Tourist businesses should be expanded along all prac " tical and moderi lines. To this end, and to lend assistance to all three groups, I pledge interest of the taxpayer, which is you, "Mr. and Mrs. Reader.'" No Secret Meetings I believe in a progressive county where the citizens have a definite civic responsi bility and keen interest in their government. I feel that all meetings where tax money is involved should be a public meeting, with NO DOORS LOCKED, and where'the "wel come -welcome you; firemen of the towns, and that all rural fires be answered just as is done in town. With the extension of our rural telephone system, and the addition of better rural roads, this plan of fire protection would cover the ma jority pf rural areas. Such a plan would put trained men with modern equipment to fight fires just as near as your telephone. .
