Spring Meeting
The first spring meeting of the
Richland Garden Club was held
Thursday at the home of Mrs. Har
ry Lutz with Mrs. James L. El
wood and Miss Kalherine Reed, as
associate hostesses.
Following luncheon the meeting
was devoted to business and a dis
cussion of the club's projects for
the coming year.

chief machinist for the Champion
Paper and Fibre Company and the

of a heart attack on February 19.
at his home in Shelton, Washing
ton.
The body was expected to arrive
in Canton this morning for burial
Funeral services will be held in
the Crawford Funeral Home at
Canton Tuesday, at 2 p. m. with
the Rev. H. L. Smith, pastor of the
First Baptist Church of Canton,
officiating. '
Interment will be In the Morn
ing Star Cemetery.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs
Irene Owen Hudson; one daugh
ter, Mrs. II. C. Morgan of Candler;
four sons, M. L. Hudson, Jr. of
Hollywood, Calif., Staff Sgt. Glad
son E. Hudson of Camp LeJeune,
Edward Hudson, a student at the
University of Florida in Gainsville,
and Tommy Hudson of the home.
Also one brother, Carl Hudson
of Morganton; three sisters, Miss
Mildred Hudson of Morganton,

to the Beta Sigma Phi Internation
al Endowment Fund, which is the
exclusive sponsor of two leading
scientists, Dr. Edward Crabb and
Dr. Margaret Kelsall, in the field
of Cancer Research.
