Johnathan Moulton home would.be the first to admit he was a tough, hard-fisted old Revolutionary War hero. The "ghost" was his first wife, who came back to give the square mansion the name "Hauntetn House" because he removed her rings before burial and gave them to a second wife. A fireplace is pointed out as the place where the general outwitted the devil. Old Moulton? it-is said agreed to sell his soul to the devil if he'd fill the general's boots With gold.- Then the' sharp old soldier cut the toes out of his boots and the devil never could fill them be cause the coins rolled out on the floor. to Mary L. and Edgar L.
