Movie Scenes Of Life In Jail Very Realistic ARIZONA'S, SPRING BLOSSOM QUEEN "WELL, THEY DO WALT1IA M, Mass. (UP) A woman seeking U. S. citizenship papers did all right with the ex amination until she came to a question about the flag. To the query, "What flies over the state house in . Boston?" she . replied: "Pigeons." HAYWOOD COUNTY APRIL 10-15 .wr. w.wan."Wi".i' HOLLYWOOD (UP) For any one who's been Inside a jail or in sane asylum, a new movie coming out will be completely realistic. : Whether the story about Claud ette Colbert and Robert Ryan bears any resemblance to real life Is open to question. But RKO gives asstirance that the jail they're in does. A small army of technical advls ers has been working feverishly to insure that no jailbirds will be able to complain about the authenticity of "The Secret Fury". This thrill er goes from court rooms, psychia trlsts' offices, jails and county of fices to an insane asylum. Two superior court judges and a bailiff gave the producers advice for a sequence in which Miss Col. hert goes on trial for murder. "I'm tired of seeing judges ham mcr a gavel whenever anything happens in a movie court room," one movie-going judge said. "A Judge never has a gavel on hand, because he almost never needs one in an actual court session." Uses His Fist Judges nearly always need gav els in movie court sessions, and this movie is no exception. So the movie Justice now bangs oh his bench with his fist. The court room fight' in this pic ture is between Ryan, playing a material witness, and Paul Kelly, a badgering prosecuting attorney. Ryan jumps down and takes a poke at Kelly. ; Another Judge and the produc er's attorney agreed that this was contempt of court. They wrote a $100 fine for Ryan into the script. An assistant police chief and a co-operative jailer furnished more help on the jail seqeunccs. The movie man had Miss Colberts dragged to her cell by a big po liceman. Policewomen, not men, the offi cials pointed out, handle women lawbreakers. Brain Test Shown The technical advisers also led the movie makers to Include an other "authentic" scene in their work. They show Miss Colbert get ting a brain examination to deter mine a possible basis for her crime. The examination is known as an electroencephalogram, a record of brain waves which reveals pathol ogy in the brain, The process was f .. r 'a. . .v 1 1 ' V A gggggggg,. i'iini.rrtm-ii,rti-i--: lrt-.......fcanni i iitHrla M mMM WAYNESVILLE PROGRAM Shows Start f 7:30 I M.
