"What will we car.ry in our pack?" "Wonder if It will be cold?" All of these are the questions that the Scouts are asking every time .they meet either with the, troop or a fellow Scout on the school ground. R. W. Robertson, of Canton, dis trict camping chairman, is working out the details of the ever -night camporee, assisted by Scout lead ers, and patrol applications must be sent to the- Council office in Asheville not later than May 12. The patrols will hike to the camp between 4 and 6 P. M. Fri day afternoon, and will break camp about-the same tune on Saturday. The Scouts must be prepared to cook their supper Friday night, is well as breakfast and dinner on Saturday. The Pigeon River Scout "Special One-Pot meals" will be in evidence, and. from their reputa tions in the past years will be the envy of the most particular Gour metfor they include in them everything, from hot dogs to corn on the cob. . The Spring Hill Baptist Church was well represented last weekend at the two-day regional Training Union convention at Spruce Pine. Have on the patrol campsite eight practical uses otSeout knots and hitches. 4. Make a patrol collection of at least 15 leaves ofvdiffernt species found on the campsite. 5. Make a patrol list of 10 species of wild birds found at the campsite and that all members of the patrol can identify. r 6.' Point out and identify three constellations of stars and locate the North Star (weather permit ting, they all hope.) Regardless of what the weather turns out to be, rainy, cloudy, cold or warm, the boys have been. In structed to be prepared. However, according to the Scout motto, the boys are always prepared. . The paraphernalia which, thev will take Is all supposed to have a use, and Scouts are told that they will not be graded on the elaborate ness of the equipment but rather on the usefulness of it. ' The grading of the patrol will take place immediately upon the arrival of the - Scouts at Camp Daniel Boone, and this will be done by the camporee staff. Camporee emblems are awarded to each pat rol making a grade ot B. or above. These are suitable for sewing on the Scout uniform, and are coveted by every , boy from Tenderfoot to Eagle Scout. ' . ' " The- camporee will be an experi ence in the life of every Boy Scout who attendsj whether this will , be his first year or his fifth.
