campaign for Supreme Court
Judge.
Judge Efird, a former professor
at Carolina, remembered having

Emery g. Denny, a present member
of the court.
Judge Efird has three college
degrees, and for 14 years was
judge of the Forsyth county court

Dr. W. E. Bird, dean of Western
Carolina Teachers' College, ywill
make the principal address at the
Fines Creek. High School Com
mencement next week.
This was announced today by
Principal William Bird.
Three graduating honor student?

program.
The principal today announced
the valedictorian will be Thomag
McCracken.
The salutatory addresses, he add
ed, will be given by Cenie Fergu
son and Bet,ty Jo Russell both, in
cidentally, stars of last season's
girl's basketball teams as well as
scholasllcally top-ranking students.
.The annual Commencement will
be held at 8 P, M. Wednesday at
the high school auditorium.

Four new Trailways buses which
will be used on the new service of
Raleigh-to-Memphis; and Rateigh-to-Birmingham
routes, paused
here briefly Tuesday afternoon.
The new service enables travelers
to make the trip between the two
cities without a change of coaches.
The buses are equipped with the
latest type all-weather temperature
control which includes air-eondi-tioning
for summer, and special
heating system for winter. -
A large quantity of national ad
vertising is being used in promot
ing the establishment of ' the two
new through bus schedules. One of
the principal features of the ad
vertising Is the fact tlut the routes
go through the Smokies.
All the through buses will make
Waynesville a regular stop. The
new service gets underway June
first. A fleet of 11 buses will be
used on the. runs.
Livestock Field
Day Set For 25th
Arrangements are being made to
accommodate between 400 and 500
puople at the Livestock Field-Day
at the State Test Farm on Thurs
day, May 25. Howard Clapp, direc
tor in charge, said that specialists
of Raleigh would be oh hand to car
ry out a program featuring dairy
and beef cattle, stressing pastures,
dairy research, Irrigation systems'
and milking demonstrations.
The Slate Test Farm, as well as
Extension workers are cooperating
in staging the event: The program
will begin at ten and be over at a
bout three, Mr. Clapp said.
Some experimental models of
color television receivers use 47
tubes.

here, but it was all in the interest
of learning. Echols read a paper
prepared for the meeting entitled:
