These four young men, under, the 'direction of Richard Crowder,
are in charge of: the Recreation proRram at Lake Junnlu.ska for
the. summer.. Crowder' a 'ministerial student of Duke University,
has. already started his1 bovs club at the Lake. The organization
proved so popular and beneficial lust year that much interest and
demand called for it to be renewed a(!ain this year. The boys are
taught to swim, directed recreation 'and a general camping program.

Banner Season

"Bigger and better than ever,"
is the description of the current
summer season given by Mrs. A.
A. Ames, of St. Petersburg. Mrs;
Ames, together with Mr. Ames,
operate the Ames Hotel in the
Florida resort city. -
"We have already made reserva
tions for piany people, and would
have made more, but find that the
season was going to be crowded,"
she said.
Mr. and Mrs.' Ames are leaving
to attend a national hotel associa
tion in Penver.
"Our plans are to build a sum
mer home here, aftd we also have
tentative plans for the erectjon of
some tourist, facilities. There is
nothing that can be said along
that line at this time," she con
tinued. ;
Mrs. Ames said that she has
heard of the Cherokee drama in
Florida, and felt it would be a
major attraction for this area
throughout the season.

spectators "a real show" but re
fused to reveal just what act, or
dance she planned to present.

The Elizabeth City 102-piece
band left Lake Junaluska this
morning, following a week's stay
here. They visited a number of
scenic spots, and gave three "con
certs while In Western North Caro
lina. '
They gave, two concerts at Lake
Junaluska, and on Saturday after
noon went to Oteen Veterans ot
pital in their (special buses and
gave a concert for the veierans.
Thursday they went to the Bilt
more House and Wednesday to

They were escorted throughout
the area by Cpl. John Carpenter of
the highway Patrol.
