Fearing gangsters, she asks him to guard her overnight. Jack nails planks over the doors and windows and sprinkles flour over the floors (as his comic book hero would) to track any intruders. He spends the night on the davenport in one of her frilly nightgowns. Next morning she lies appar ently strangled. Jack decides he is a murderer but cah't convince the police of this. But meanwhile a factory is robbed, and he is sus pected cf.this crime. To clear him self on this count, he starts with his sweetheart (Lola Albright) on a mad chase for the crooks. He swings by the neck on a play ground acrobatic ring and knocks down enemies with his foot. A teeter-totter tosses him up into a basketball hoop. A geography class globe three feet tn diameter falls over his head, and he cavorts around in battle like some weird monster. A "buzz saw chases him and Lola around the school wood- shop and finally saws the floor out from under them. They and the crooks fall into the gym swim ming pool, where the saw pursues them. The chase ends in the audi torium with scores of small boys Jack's pals throwing baseballs and pies at the villains. One funny touch is at the pic ture's start Jack's head ringing with the sound of his truck's bells till even customers seem to speak In the racket.
