It's all in preparation for the opening of the second annual series of later-community field days July 20. Sponsored by the Haywood County Community Development Program, field days will include a morning tour of the host commun ity by the visitors, a picnic lunch, and a comprehensive afternoon program. AH the field days will open at 10 A. M. ' Mornin? Star and Jonathan Creek will launch the series, with the Morning Star people in the role of guests. The recreation program. Assist ant County Agent Turner Cathey announced today, will include? a handicraft exhibit, tug-o-war, horse-shoe pitching, with divisions for those under 30 years old and those over 30; men's egg throw, family relay (teams of fathers, sons, mothers, and daughters; women's blind-fold race; singing, boys' and girls' Softball games, and an eating contest. This program will be held for each of the field days. The complete schedule for the final part of July: July 20 Morning Star at Jona-j than Creek; 21 Stanley Cove at Lake Junaluska; 22 Hominy at Aliens Creek; 24 Beaverdam at Upper Crabtree; 25 Cruso at Low, er Crabtree; 26 South Clyde at White Oak; 27 East Pigeon at Rat cliffe Cove; 28; North Clyde at Francis Cove; 29 Fines Creek at West Pigeon. Summer Masonic Assembly To Be Held Here Aug. 20-22 Masons from throughout the na tion will gather here August 20 22 for their annual Summer Assembly. One of the recreation features on the comprehensive program Is a motorcade to Cherokee and the Cherokee drama, "Unto These Hills". Among the frnfired speakers during the sessions will be Must Illustrious Companion Oscar T. Hawke, grand master of the Grand Council of Ohio, and Right Emin ent Sir Knight John P. Phelps, past grand commander of the Grand Commandery Knights Templar of Florida. The visiting Masons will leavp Waynesville on the motorcade at 6:30 p.m. from the Armory. That night has been designated as Masonic Night at the pageant. AH Masons in Western North Carolina and their families are in vited and can secure tickets from this committee of the following members: C. B. Hosaflook, F. G. Rippetoe, W. A. Abel, F. E. Worth ington, and E. P. Martin.
