Noble, a'.tcrncy of Jack sonville. Florida, and pr.sidert of the board, will preside. Mr. Noble is also lay leader of th.s 7!cnda conference and a 'member of; he General Board of Lay Activities of The Methodist Church. Dr. Ben G. Childs, Duke Uni versity, Durham, as program chair man, has obtained some outstai.d ing speakers for the occasion. Dr. Ralph W. Sockman, pastor of Christ Church, New York City, will weak in the auditorium Thurs day Might at eight o'clock. His subjtlet will be "New Horizons for the JChurch." On Friday Dr. Sockman will address the confer ence jr.n "The Road Ahead for Christian Laymen." ' Dr, J. Earl Moreland. President of Rar.dolph-Maeon College, Ash land, Va., will also address the con ference on Friday. His subject will be "Churchmen Cmted,!L Dr.' Moreland if. internationally known in church and educational circles, having been a missionary and later president of Porto Allegre College, Brazil, and from 1920-39 was vice president of Scarrilt College, Nash ville. Alexander Nunn, of Birmingham, Ala., editor of The Progressive Farmer, will speak Saturday morn ing on "The Rural Church and Its Laymen." A prominent lay leader. Mr. Nunn has distinguished himself through service on many state, federal and church boards and commissions. Robert Q. May field, associate secretary of the General Board of Lay Activities of The Methodist Church, Chicago, will attend the conference and speak on "Metho dist Men for the Man of Galilee." Bishop Marvin A. Franklin of Jackson, Mississippi, will give the closing sermon Sunday morning. July 23rd on "Leading Laymen." Bishop Frankljn is in charge of the Jackson Area of The Metho dist Church which inclMes the Mississippi and North Mississippi conferences.
